Raunak Singh: The Fight Within โ€” The Story Behind ACS GOA

Written by Tanisha Cardozo

Raunak Singh, known in the martial arts community as Coach Ronnyy, brings over 17 years of experience as a certified MMA, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), and Combat Sports Instructor. Beyond training athletes, he also serves as an Army Martial Arts and Tactical Combat Trainer, specializing in self-defense and operational combat systems tailored for all age groups and professional categories.

His extensive coaching career includes mentoring athletes for some of the worldโ€™s most prestigious events, such as the World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship, ADCC, World Martial Arts Mastership, World Cup, WAKO Kickboxing Championships, AJP Jiu-Jitsu Championships, and the Mombasa Open. Through these experiences, Raunak has always aimed to build a foundation where martial arts training develops not just skilled fighters, but strong, disciplined, and purpose-driven individualsโ€”both on and off the mat.

The Academy of Combat Sports Goa (ACS GOA) was founded with a mission to establish a professional combat training hub that meets international standards right in Goa. Having worked closely with various federations, defense units, and international coaches, Raunak realized that India lacked a structured academy that could blend combat education, fitness science, and moral discipline. Today, ACS GOA acts as the parent academy and central body for multiple clubs, associations, and affiliate academies throughout Goa and India, uniting diverse martial arts communities under one shared goal: to raise Indiaโ€™s combat sports standards on the global stage.

The main academy is based in Old Goa, but official training programs also run in Panjim, Candolim, Vasco, and Margao. Collaborations with local institutions like Fitness Bar Old Goa and Don Bosco Oratory help extend ACS GOAโ€™s reach. Through a network of affiliates and partner clubs, the academy provides technical guidance, instructor certification, and athlete development, serving as the core hub for the region.

At its core, ACS GOAโ€™s mission is simple: to build warriors for lifeโ€”physically, mentally, and emotionally. Martial arts, according to Raunak, is not just about fighting; itโ€™s about discipline, humility, and leadership. Every program under the academy operates with the belief that strong character is the foundation of true strength.

The academy offers professional-level training across multiple disciplines. These include MMA, which integrates striking, wrestling, and submission grappling; Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, focusing on leverage and ground control; Kickboxing and Muay Thai for striking precision and endurance; TIMD (Tongilmoodo), a Korean unified martial art blending traditional philosophy with modern combat practice; and real-world self-defense systems tailored for civilians, police, and womenโ€™s empowerment programs. Each discipline is taught through a structured and progressive approach emphasizing technique, safety, and mental development.

Beginners begin their journey with foundational drills, movement patterns, and discipline habits, while advanced students delve into specialized tactical training, sparring, and conditioning for competition or self-defense. Raunak personally monitors every studentโ€™s progress to ensure safety, growth, and consistent development.

ACS GOA boasts an accomplished coaching team combining international experience and national excellence. Notably, Coach Erica J. de Sequeira, an international athlete ranked third globally in Professional Jiu-Jitsu (AJP ranking), represents India at elite competitions such as ADCC, World Pro, and the Mombasa Open. Alongside her, Raunak himself brings expertise as an Army Martial Trainer and Tactical Combat Instructor, while Instructor Ravindra Chand complements the team with certified yoga and martial arts training focused on athlete mobility, flexibility, and recovery. Together, they embody a balance of technical mastery, modern coaching science, and traditional martial discipline.

The academy caters to a wide range of age groups, designing custom programs to fit each. For kids aged five and above, the focus is on building confidence, focus, and coordination. Teens train for strength, discipline, and leadership development. Adults engage in self-defense, conditioning, and personal mastery, while seniors receive tailored training to improve flexibility, balance, and light defensive skills.

Students join ACS GOA for many reasons: fitness, self-defense, competition, or personal growth. Many start to improve health but stay for the discipline and mental growth martial arts fosters. Some go on to represent India internationally, while others discover balance and peace through consistent practice.

One standout success story is that of Erica J. de Sequeira. Rising from a local Goan student to securing third place in the World Jiu-Jitsu Professional Division, she exemplifies ACS GOAโ€™s visionโ€”empowering Indian athletes to reach global podiums through disciplined training.

Safety remains a top priority. The academy follows certified training protocols, offers medical supervision when necessary, and mandates proper safety gear use. Every session incorporates warm-ups, supervised drills, and skill-level appropriate sparring to ensure students train safely and confidently.

ACS GOA athletes regularly compete at all levels, from local tournaments to international championships such as ADCC, AJP, WAKO Kickboxing, and the World Mastership Games. The academy proudly produces champions who represent India with honor.

Beyond competition, student progress is measured through discipline, consistency, attitude, and technical improvement. The academy employs structured syllabus cards, skill evaluations, and ongoing feedback to support holistic development.

The academyโ€™s self-defense programs are particularly impactful. Through Project Self-Defense Goa, ACS GOA runs initiatives focusing on womenโ€™s safety, child protection, and tactical awareness for real-world scenarios. These programs emphasize psychological readiness, situational control, and reaction training, delivered in collaboration with the Goa Police, Department of Women & Child Development, and Pink Force.

Looking ahead, Raunak envisions ACS GOA evolving into a National Center of Excellence for Combat Sports and Tactical Training within five years. The academy plans to expand its network nationwide, creating development pathways for youth athletes, instructors, and defense professionals. The goal is to position Goa as a leading hub for martial arts and combat education across South Asia.

When asked what title would best suit a martial arts movie about ACS GOA, Raunak says it would be โ€œTHE FIGHT WITHINโ€ โ€” because true victory starts inside every individual before itโ€™s visible in the ring.

Training at ACS GOA is not without its lighter moments. One memorable incident involved a kidsโ€™ sparring match where a young student suddenly paused mid-round, bowed, and said, โ€œCoach, I need water before my takedown!โ€ Moments like this bring laughter and humility, reminding everyone of the human side of martial arts.

If the academy had a signature move named after it, Raunak would call it โ€œThe Goan Lockdownโ€ โ€” a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu-based control transition symbolizing patience, precision, and pure technique, perfectly reflecting ACS GOAโ€™s core values.

Expansion plans include developing international collaborations and launching online coaching platforms to make training accessible worldwide. The academy is also preparing to launch the Goa Fight League, an in-house MMA and Jiu-Jitsu event aimed at nurturing young Indian fighters. Ultimately, ACS GOA aspires to unify combat systems under an educational and ethical framework centered on discipline, respect, and lifelong learning.

Raunak also hopes to break a common myth: โ€œMartial arts is only for fighters.โ€ In reality, martial arts is for anyone seeking balance, strength, and confidence in life.

For those nervous about starting martial arts, Raunak offers simple but powerful advice: โ€œEveryone starts as a beginnerโ€”even world champions. You donโ€™t need to be strong to start; training will make you strong. Step onto the mat once, and youโ€™ll realize martial arts isnโ€™t about fighting othersโ€”itโ€™s about discovering your best self.โ€

At ACS GOA, Raunak and his team are building more than fightersโ€”they are creating a legacy of discipline, courage, and unity. As the parent academy to many clubs, associations, and affiliate academies, their mission is to raise the next generation of Indian martial artists who carry strength in skill and humility in heart.

Asiaโ€™h Melody Blake: From North London Teen to Runway Star

Written by Tanisha Cardozo

Asiaโ€™h Melody Blake is not your average 17-year-old. Born in North London and rooted in the vibrant cultures of Anguilla, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Jamaica, she is a teen model making bold waves in the UK fashion scene and beyond.

In October 2024, a conversation with her youth worker โ€” a former model herself โ€” led to a golden opportunity. A spot had unexpectedly opened up in Inspiring Edge, a local charity fashion competition founded by her youth workerโ€™s sisters. Asiaโ€™h jumped at the chance, despite having no formal experience and being the youngest contestant. She quickly found herself training alongside seasoned, signed models โ€” and the journey began.

Under the guidance of mentors Lana, Hailey, and Reuben, she spent two intense months in rehearsal. Outside of official sessions, she would practice for hours at home, studying professional walks and refining her technique.

November 2024 arrived, and with it, the moment that would redefine her future. Performing in front of an audience that included pageant queens and celebrities like Alesha Dixon, Asiaโ€™hโ€™s presence lit up the stage. When her name was announced as Inspiring Edge Best Female Model 24-25, the roar of the crowd marked the beginning of something much bigger than a title โ€” it was the rebirth of a dream.

Her modeling career took off from there.

Despite a severe setback just months later โ€” a two-week hospital stay due to a brain infection and viral meningitis โ€” she defied the odds and won Miss Model Queen UK 25-26. The experience reminded her that strength isnโ€™t just physical โ€” itโ€™s emotional, spiritual, and mental.

Since stepping into the spotlight, Asiaโ€™h has walked in London Fashion Week, modeled for acclaimed designers, and been invited to major networking events across the capital. Her distinctive signature โ€” adorning her hair with shimmering gems โ€” has become a standout runway look, rooted in a personal expression of empowerment and individuality.

Among her icons, she cites Adriana Lima, Naomi Campbell, Shalom Harlow, and most importantly, โ€œDeeโ€ โ€” the youth worker who helped ignite her journey.

Her aspirations are clear:

  • Sign to a major modeling agency
  • Walk at top fashion weeks (LFW x3, AFW, PFW x2, MFW x2, and Miami Swim Week)
  • Book advertising campaigns and music videos
  • Launch her own modeling class for teens
  • Shoot for a major global brand
  • Become one of the youngest Victoriaโ€™s Secret Angels

But modeling isnโ€™t the only dream she holds close. โ€œBeyond modeling, Iโ€™d love to explore acting โ€” Iโ€™ve always been told Iโ€™m a natural drama queen!โ€ she laughs. She also hopes to revisit ballet, a discipline she fell in love with as a child.

If she could walk the runway to one song? “Only Girl” by Rihanna โ€” her personal power anthem and the soundtrack to her confidence. And if she launched a fashion label of her own, it would be called MIM โ€” Melody in Motion. For Asiaโ€™h, fashion is about more than beauty โ€” itโ€™s about movement, purpose, and inspiring others to unlock their fullest potential.

If her life were a magazine cover, it would be titled โ€œIโ€™m Just a Girl from North Londonโ€, she says. โ€œThatโ€™s where my journey began โ€” but Iโ€™ve learned that where you start doesnโ€™t define where youโ€™ll go.โ€

That grounded mindset extends far beyond fashion. Asiaโ€™h is a dedicated member of the Youth Advisory Board for the Adolescents Initiative, where she works with policymakers to tackle youth issues like knife crime and shares her experiences with Members of Parliament. Her activism, like her modeling, is rooted in a desire to uplift her community and represent voices too often left unheard.

Asiaโ€™h Melody Blake is more than just a name to remember โ€” sheโ€™s a movement in motion. Or as she would say: Melody in Motion.

DJ Ashton: From Goa’s Dance Floors to India’s Top Stages

Written by Tanisha Cardozo

DJ Ashtonโ€™s journey into the world of music began as a childhood dream, nurtured by the vibrant cultural rhythms of Goa. Surrounded by music from an early age, Ashton found himself gravitating towards the DJ console, often accompanying his friend, DJ Jose and DJ Omar, to events and shows. It was during those early experiences that he learned the craft, watching closely and absorbing everything he could.

He started spinning at renowned clubs like Titoโ€™s, Mamboโ€™s, Butters, Cohiba, Cavala, and Thalassaโ€”places that would become his second home. His major breakthrough came when he clinched the All-India Foster DJ Mastermix Contest, a win that firmly established him in the fiercely competitive DJ circuit. Over the past two decades, DJ Ashton has performed at Goa’s top venues including Club Leopard Valley, Southern Deck, La Calypso, Folga, and DTR Down The Road, all while sharing the stage with global names like Sick Individuals, DJ Da Fresh, and Eve Carey.

๐ŸŽงSpinning His Way Across India

Currently, he holds a residency at Cavala, where his We Did Start the Fire Retro Fridays have become a staple of Goa nightlife. He is celebrated for his ability to blend genres effortlesslyโ€”retro, hip-hop, moombahton, old-school, Bollywood, Konkani mixes, and EDMโ€”keeping dance floors alive until the early hours. Ashton believes that reading the crowd is an art, and he tailors every set to the emotional and rhythmic flow of the audience.

Beyond Goa, his talent has taken him to cities like Hyderabad and Pune, and to luxury events hosted by brands like WizCraft and MTV at venues such as JW Marriott New Delhi Aerocity. One of his most memorable gigs was a high-voltage New Yearโ€™s Eve party at Club Leopard Valley, and another, performing alongside The Doorben Band at a prestigious New Delhi event.

๐ŸŽถBeyond the Decks: DJ, Educator, Dreamer

His professional toolkit includes the Pioneer CDJ2000nxs and DJM 900nx2 mixerโ€”gear he swears by for its stability, quality, and flexibility. He is also working on his production, VDJ, further expanding his creative repertoire beyond live sets.

But his influence doesnโ€™t end behind the console. Ashton co-founded Bass Nuts Music School (formerly BPM DJ Academy) with fellow artist Kay, to mentor the next wave of talent. The academy is a hub of creativity and learning, reflecting Ashtonโ€™s belief in giving back to the community that shaped him.

Staying current with global trends while maintaining his unique sound is a delicate balance Ashton has mastered. Influenced by the likes of Skrillex and Tiesto, he continues to explore and innovate within his music, fusing genres to create signature sounds. He adapts his approach whether it’s an energetic club night, a culturally rich Indian wedding, or a polished corporate eventโ€”each requiring its own rhythm and vibe.

Looking ahead, Ashton is working on original tracks that mix EDM, hip-hop, Afro-house, melodic techno, and Bollywood influences. His dream? To open his own nightclub somedayโ€”a space where music, culture, and community come together under one roof.

For DJ Ashton, music is not just a careerโ€”itโ€™s a way of life. And he shows no signs of slowing down.

Ramson Cardoso: Giving Voice to Lifeโ€™s Most Special Moments

Written by Tanisha Cardozo

At just three years old, Ramson Cardoso stood in front of a crowd for the first timeโ€”unaware that this small step in Lower KG would spark a lifelong passion. It was Miss Margaret from St. Anthony High School, Monte de Guirim, who first entered his name into a Konkani singing competition. Young Ramson went home, told his mother, and together they picked an old hit song. He performed it, won first place, and unknowingly began walking the path of a performer.

The roots of performance ran deep in his maternal family, already immersed in Tiatrs and Zagors. Naturally, Ramson joined in, performing year after year and consistently winning competitions from Lower KG through to 10th standard.

But talent alone doesnโ€™t guarantee successโ€”especially when you come from a non-famous, non-industry background. โ€œIโ€™m not a nepotism kid,โ€ Ramson says plainly. โ€œI had no connections. But I had the support of my family.โ€

That support, combined with a relentless drive, became his foundation. During the COVID lockdown, he found both inspiration and a creative partner in Brendon. Together, they began writing comic duets that resonated with audiences. This phase helped Ramson sharpen his skills as a songwriter and performerโ€”and gave him the confidence to explore more original work.

Soon, he began writing Kants for college Tiatr competitions and was regularly approached by family members to create custom songs for birthdays and special occasions. Thus began his journey into toast songs.

The Art of a Toast Song

A toast song is not just about rhyming linesโ€”itโ€™s about capturing someoneโ€™s essence. Ramson begins with listeningโ€”really listeningโ€”to the memories, milestones, and emotions a family shares about a loved one. Then he begins to shape the lyrics, compose the melody, and builds the entire production from scratch.

What sets him apart? He does it all. From songwriting, to shooting to editing the final video, Ramson is a one-man production house. “Iโ€™m a perfectionist,” he admits. “I like things done a certain way.” He even collaborates with clients to include personal touches like family images or references.

Some songs come together in hours, especially when he’s in โ€œthe zone.โ€ One song, for example, was written at night, confirmed in the morning, recorded and shot by 4 PM, edited overnight, and released the next day. Most of his work features original lyrics and melodies, though occasionally he finds inspiration from trending tunesโ€”as in the case of Mogachem Ful, which borrowed from the popular Maan Meri Jaan.

Despite tight deadlines, writerโ€™s block, and the emotional pressure of translating peopleโ€™s lives into song, Ramson finds joy in creating music that connects. “People tell me my songs made them cry or gave them goosebumpsโ€”thatโ€™s what makes it worth it.”

The Busy Season and Beyond

Between October and February, the pace is relentless. Itโ€™s the peak time for weddings, events, and tiatrs, and Ramson juggles back-to-back projects. But he thrives under pressureโ€”it fuels his creativity.

His academic background in Theatre Arts also deepened his understanding of storytelling and performance. Today, at just 23, he feels more confident in his craft than ever before.

If his life were a Tiatr, he says, it would be called ‘The Ba***ds of Tiatr,’ and he would play himself.

He doesnโ€™t have a favorite song. โ€œAll my songs are special in their own way,โ€ he says. But if you had to describe Ramson Cardoso in just three words? Talented. Systematic. Perfectionist.

And perhaps, thatโ€™s all you really need to know.

Ninaad Kambli: Redefining Luxury Living in Goa

Written by Tanisha Cardozo

When Ninaad Kambli founded Nivasa in 2019, he wasnโ€™t starting freshโ€”he was building on a solid foundation. Backed by the technical strength of Rahee Constructions, a firm with over 30+ years of experience under the leadership of Ashish Kambli, Nivasa was created to offer something Goaโ€™s real estate landscape was missing: a complete, experience-led approach to luxury living.

In a market that often focuses on land volume or transactional value, Ninaad saw an opportunity to shift the conversation. Nivasa was envisioned to elevate the meaning of homeโ€”spaces that feel intimate, rooted in design integrity, and tailored for those seeking more than just property ownership. According to him, true luxury isnโ€™t about extravagance, but about how a space makes you feel. At Nivasa, that means creating homes that are calm, functional, and deeply connected to nature. From the breezy courtyards to the locally sourced materials and custom interiors, every detail is designed to support a lifestyle of ease and beauty.

More Than Villas: A Full-Service Living Experience

What makes Nivasa stand apart is its 360-degree service model. Itโ€™s not just about building homesโ€”itโ€™s about creating and sustaining value. From land acquisition and architectural planning to Vastu consultancy, interior design, and project execution, Nivasa takes care of every step. Even after a villa is complete, clients benefit from long-term support through property maintenance, Airbnb management, and hospitality services. This end-to-end offering ensures that every home continues to be a valuable asset, both emotionally and financially.

Sustainability is integral to the Nivasa philosophy. The brand is committed to eco-conscious buildingโ€”incorporating features like passive cooling, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient layouts into each project. Ninaad is particularly drawn to biophilic design, where natural elements are brought indoors to foster a sense of calm and well-being. This design approach reinforces the Goan charm, giving each villa a warm, grounded identity.

One of the most memorable and challenging projects for Nivasa involved restoring a heritage villa in Goa. Maintaining its original character while integrating modern conveniences required careful planning and collaboration with local artisans. The project taught Ninaad the value of patience, cultural sensitivity, and craftsmanshipโ€”lessons that now guide many of Nivasaโ€™s current projects.

The Vision Ahead: Thoughtful Living, Invested Living

Leadership at Nivasa is fluid and responsive. While villa development demands structure, precision, and adherence to timelines, the hospitality side requires empathy, flexibility, and attention to guest experience. Ninaad shifts his approach based on the domain, but always maintains a core focus on creativity, accountability, and alignment with the brandโ€™s values. His team operates with the same ethosโ€”sharing a collective vision of soulful living, nurtured through open communication, collaboration, and ongoing inspiration.

As for Goaโ€™s real estate future, Ninaad anticipates a rise in wellness-focused architecture, sustainable luxury, and tech-enabled smart homes. He also sees increasing demand for dual-purpose homesโ€”spaces that are both personal sanctuaries and viable investment properties. For todayโ€™s investors, his advice is simple: look for legal clarity, regulatory compliance, and long-term viability. Choosing Nivasa means choosing a holistic ecosystem that delivers not just a home, but lasting value.

For Ninaad, the idea of home is deeply personal. Itโ€™s a sanctuaryโ€”somewhere you feel at peace and inspired at the same time. This belief shapes every project Nivasa undertakes, creating homes that feel warm, grounded, and thoughtfully designed for the realities of modern living. When asked to describe Nivasa as a person, he says: โ€œElegant. Grounded. Visionary.โ€ Whether itโ€™s a villa in Goa or a dream home in Tuscany surrounded by vineyards, Ninaad Kambli continues to lead with intentionโ€”building not just houses, but homes with soul.
