Rockstar Chef Competition Crowns Young Culinary Talents from Goa


In a thrilling finale, St. Francis Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Siolim; Keshav Smruti Higher Secondary School, Verna; and Deep Vihar Higher Secondary School, Vasco emerged victorious at the debut edition of the Rockstar Chef Competition. The event, organized by Kamaxi College of Culinary Arts (KCCA) and Kamaxi Skills, aimed to provide a platform for aspiring chefs from Higher Secondary Schools across Goa to showcase their culinary skills.

The competition, held in two phases across December 2024 and January 2025, featured 21 participants from 11 educational institutions. The final round, held at KCCA, saw the young chefs present their creations to a panel of renowned judges. The winning dishes included Azure Vanilla Cake, Roasted Pineapple Curry, and Chicken Stroganoff with Steamed Parsley Rice.

Rishita Damaji from St. Francis Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Siolim, took home the top prize with her Azure Vanilla Cake. Paramjit Saha from Keshav Smruti Higher Secondary School, Verna, secured the first runner-up spot with his Roasted Pineapple Curry, while Shiphara Shaikh from Deep Vihar Higher Secondary School, Vasco, was declared the second runner-up with her Chicken Stroganoff with Steamed Parsley Rice. All participants received certificates, while the semi-finalists received gift vouchers. The winners took home trophies, certificates, and gift vouchers.

The judging panel comprised esteemed professionals, including Chef Aditya Singh Bhadoria, Executive Chef at Club Mahindra; Chef Amit Chatterjee, Pastry Chef at Alila Diwa; and Chef Patrick Albert, Maitre Cuisinier de France and Head Chef Faculty at KCCA. The competition featured two categories: ‘Hot Kitchen’ and ‘Bakery and Pastry’, where participants’ dishes were judged based on culinary technique, presentation, creativity, and cleanliness.

Parixit Pai Fondekar, founder of KCCA and Kamaxi Skills, emphasized the significance of the competition: “At Kamaxi, we believe in nurturing the culinary talents of young individuals. Events like the Rockstar Chef Competition not only encourage creativity but also give students the chance to learn and grow under the guidance of industry professionals. Infosys Co-Founder Kris Gopalakrishnan Booked Under SC/ST Atrocities Act: A Closer Look


In a significant development, Kris Gopalakrishnan, co-founder of Infosys, has been booked under the SC/ST Atrocities Act, along with 15 others, including former Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Director Balaram ΒΉ. The case was registered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on January 27, 2025, based on the direction of the 71st city civil and session court (CCH).

The complaint was filed by Durgappa, a tribal Bovi community member and former faculty at the Centre for Sustainable Technology, IISc. Durgappa alleged that he was falsely accused in a honey trap case and fired from his job in 2014. He also claimed to have faced caste-based abuse and threats ΒΉ.

Gopalakrishnan has denied the allegations, stating that he has always believed in fairness, justice, and treating everyone with respect, regardless of their background. He expressed his deep sadness that a law meant to protect marginalized communities has been misused to make false allegations against him.

In a statement, Gopalakrishnan said, “I have been associated with IISc as Chairman of the Council since 2022, while the alleged incidents date back to 2014. IISc has clear policies for fair and transparent investigations, which are within the purview of the executive management.”

The Karnataka High Court has stayed the investigation and proceedings into the case, granting relief to Gopalakrishnan and the other accused. Justice S R Krishna Kumar granted the stay on Wednesday, stating that the reasons stated in the application duly filed along with the memorandum of facts were acceptable.

Gopalakrishnan has welcomed the stay order, saying, “As the matter is before the Courts, I will not comment further. I have full faith in the judiciary and trust that justice will prevail.”

The case has garnered significant attention due to the prominent figures involved and the serious nature of the allegations. As the matter unfolds, it remains to be seen how the court will proceed with the case.
