Victor Hospital & BJP Goa Host Blood Donation Camp on PM Modi’s Birthday

Margao, 17th September 2025:
On the occasion of the 75th birthday of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, Victor Hospital, in association with the BJP Medical Cell, hosted a Blood Donation Camp in Margao under the nationwide Sewa Pakhwada 2025 initiative.

The camp was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble PWD Minister & Margao MLA Shri Digambar Kamat, Hon’ble Navelim MLA Shri Ulhas Tuenkar, Dr. Sneha Bhagwat – Ayurvedic & Yoga Practitioner and Entrepreneur, Mr. Yogiraj Kamat – Social Worker, and Mr. Damodar Shirodkar – Margao Municipality Chairperson, in the presence of dignitaries, doctors, staff, and volunteers.

Also gracing the occasion were Shri Abhishek Kakodkar, President of BJP Margao Block, Ms. Roana Costa, Executive Director of Victor Hospital, Dr. Ajay Gangoli, COO & MS of Victor Hospital, and Dr. Eugene D’Souza, HoD Pathology & Blood Bank, Victor Hospital.

The initiative received enthusiastic participation, with citizens and hospital staff alike coming forward to donate blood and support the cause. Leaders from BJP Goa and representatives of Victor Hospital emphasized the significance of voluntary blood donation in saving lives and addressing critical healthcare needs.

Victor Hospital expressed its heartfelt gratitude to all donors, organizers, and participants for their contribution and reiterated its dedication to community health initiatives and service to society.

This initiative, held as part of Sewa Pakhwada, is one among several service-driven programs across the nation to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday, promoting the values of seva (service) and samarpan (dedication).

Goa Tourism Engages Youth with Electric Cycle Tour & Bread-Making Experience under Yuva Tourism Club

Panjim, 17th September 2025 – As part of the month-long build-up to World Tourism Day 2025, the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, in collaboration with the Travel and Tourism Association of Goa (TTAG), SKAL International Goa, and the Yuva Tourism Club, conducted two immersive student activities: an Electric Cycle Tour at Chorao and a “Life of Pao” Bread-Making Experience at Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts and Science, Devorlim.

The initiatives are designed to promote regenerative and experiential tourism, while building awareness among youth about Goa’s natural and cultural heritage.

Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, said:

“Through activities like today’s Electric Cycle Tour and Bread-Making Experience, we want to engage the youth in authentic experiences and instill in them a sense of ownership towards Goa’s heritage, ecology and traditions. This aligns with our vision to make Goa a model for regenerative tourism.”

Director of Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik, added:

“These hands-on programmes are more than just excursions; they are an educational journey for students, sensitising them to sustainability, local livelihoods and community engagement.”

The Electric Cycle Tour at Chorao offered students an opportunity to explore Goa’s ecology, biodiversity, and village landscapes in a sustainable manner. Meanwhile, the Life of Pao Bread-Making Experience immersed them in Goa’s culinary traditions, teaching them the cultural significance and heritage of the iconic Goan bread.

With the participation of colleges and schools through the Yuva Tourism Club, these initiatives are shaping the next generation of responsible travellers who appreciate the importance of sustainability, community, and cultural preservation.

The Department of Tourism will continue hosting a series of programs throughout September, leading up to special events and grand celebrations on World Tourism Day 2025.

Konkani Words Will Disappear If Not Used”: Prasad Volvoikar at 7th Batch of Govt. Training

The Directorate of Official Language, Government of Goa, inaugurated the 7th batch of Konkani training for government employees on September 16, 2025, at the Language Research Centre, Panaji.

The four-day program, running from September 16 to 19, aims to strengthen the use of Konkani in administration. 28 government employees have enrolled in this batch. The sessions will focus on Konkani grammar, official correspondence, administrative vocabulary, notings, and conversation skills.

Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Guest Shri Prasad Volvoikar, Director of the Public Grievances Department, stressed the urgency of language preservation:

“All government employees should take full advantage of this training programme. Konkani should be used as much as possible in administrative work because if Konkani words are not used, they will disappear.”

Also present at the ceremony were Shri Meghanath Parab, Director of Official Language, and Shri Anil Sawant, Deputy Director of Official Language. Director Parab highlighted the Directorate’s mission of ensuring the maximum use of Konkani as the official language in governance.

Following the completion of this batch, the 8th batch of training will be held from September 22 to 25, 2025, at the Language Research Centre, Panaji, from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm.

This initiative reflects the Government of Goa’s continued commitment to preserving Konkani, not just as a cultural identity, but as a living and functioning administrative language.

Duler Parish Families Celebrate ‘Disconnect to Connect’ for Jubilee of Families

The Parish of St. Francis Xavier, Duler, recently hosted a special celebration for Family Apostolate Sunday and the Jubilee of Families on 31st August 2025, coinciding with the Diocesan Day dedicated to family ministry. The event drew parishioners of all ages for a day of spiritual reflection, practical guidance, and joyful fellowship.

The day began with a beautifully animated liturgy led by the Family Apostolate Animation Team. Through three engaging skits, participants explored the Gospel’s message of valuing relationships and humble service over possessions or status.

Following the service, Prof. Vijay and Ulene Borges of MFC, Margao, led an interactive session on balancing work and family life. Drawing from their experience raising six children, they shared strategies for discipline, clear role allocation, and open communication. They emphasized the importance of emotional and psychological support in families, highlighting how children, when respected, can also support parents.

The mood then lightened with Team and Partner games, bringing laughter and enthusiasm to participants young and old. The festivities continued with a Jubilee cake cutting and a shared lunch, fostering light-hearted conversation and community bonding.

To conclude, families were encouraged to take part in a two-hour digital detox, “Disconnect from Devices to Connect with Family,” through shared meals, games, or outings.

Fr. Anthony Fernandes, Parish Priest, commended the Family Apostolate Animation Team for organizing a meaningful program that combined formation and fellowship, praising their efforts in building Happy, Healthy, and Holy Families.

The event was coordinated by Asst. Prof. Pallavi Kalangutkar, Asst. Prof. Vibha Pai Angle, and student volunteers, ensuring a seamless execution of sessions guided by eminent resource persons, Mr. Vivek Patki and Mr. Gaurav Malhotra.

 All-Goa Leadership Training Camp Empowers HSS & College Students with Skills for the Future

The All-Goa Leadership Training Camp, held on 12th and 13th September 2025, proved to be a powerful platform for student growth and development. Organized in memory of the late M.R. Pai, the initiative was jointly arranged by the M.R. Pai Foundation, Mumbai and the Forum of Free Enterprise, Mumbai, with strong guidance from the Dempo Charities Trust.

The camp brought together 54 students from 8 Higher Secondary Schools across Goa, who engaged in an immersive two-day journey of learning and discovery.

The sessions were conducted by eminent faculty members Mr. Vivek Patki and Mr. Gaurav Malhotra, whose activity-based training modules focused on personal growth, leadership skills, and communication effectiveness. Students participated in exercises that tested teamwork, strengthened decision-making, and fostered self-belief.

The event was seamlessly coordinated by Asst. Prof. Pallavi Kalangutkar and Asst. Prof. Vibha Pai Angle, along with student volunteers who ensured smooth execution. Academic support came from Prof. (Dr.) Deepali Churi, whose encouragement guided the camp’s objectives.

Feedback from participants highlighted the positive impact of the sessions, with many noting a boost in confidence, clarity in setting personal and academic goals, and appreciation for hands-on, interactive learning methods.

The camp succeeded not only in imparting practical leadership skills but also in instilling a sense of responsibility and vision among young students. By empowering youth with the tools for growth and resilience, the All-Goa Leadership Training Camp continues to carry forward the legacy of M.R. Pai in building informed, capable leaders for tomorrow.
