Vadodara: Goa Under-16 produced a disciplined bowling performance to restrict Chhattisgarh Under-16 to 212 for nine in 90 overs on the opening day of the All India Under-16 Sw. J.Y. Lele Invitational Two-Day Cricket Tournament at the Infipro Sports Academy Cricket Ground.
Chhattisgarh won the toss and elected to bat first, but Goa’s bowlers struck at regular intervals to prevent the opposition from building a bigger total.
Shaurya Chodankar led Goa’s bowling effort, finishing with four wickets for 57 runs. Mrunal Naik provided valuable support with two wickets, while Arnav Naik and Vedant Aigal claimed one wicket each.
For Chhattisgarh, Aryan Agrawal was the top scorer with 43 runs. Anmol Raj Singh contributed 38, while Shouvia Jaiswal scored 32 and Harsh Sahu added 31. Manan Dewangan also made a useful contribution with 29.
Goa’s bowlers kept the pressure on throughout the day, preventing Chhattisgarh from establishing a commanding position despite several batsmen making starts.
Chhattisgarh ended the opening day at 212/9 after 90 overs, with just one wicket remaining in their first innings.
Goa will resume proceedings on the second day looking to take the final wicket quickly before beginning their reply with the bat.
