PANAJI, GOA | SEPTEMBER 3, 2026: The GCCI IR, HR & L&D Committee organised ‘Bridging Campus & Corporate – An Industry-Academia Connect Initiative’ for Third Year BBA students of Dnyanprassarak Mandal’s College (DMC), with the aim of bringing classroom learning closer to the realities of the corporate world.
The day-long programme was held at the Surendrababu Timblo Hall at GCCI and gave students an opportunity to understand Goa’s evolving business ecosystem, emerging sectors, industry challenges and career opportunities.
Investing in Skills Beyond the Classroom
Welcoming the students, GCCI President Mrs. Pratima Dhond highlighted the importance of developing skills and qualities beyond academic qualifications.
She told the students that while a degree may open the door, what they bring to the table will determine how far they progress. She encouraged them to remain curious, continue learning and look beyond textbooks to understand the practical world of business.
Ms. M. Shanthi, Principal, DMC, thanked GCCI for organising the programme and said the initiative would play an important role in preparing students for the real world.
She emphasised the importance of investing in oneself, noting that while the first salary may come from an employer, the first investment students should make is in themselves.
Mr. Durguesh Pai Angle, Chairman, GCCI IR, HR & L&D Committee and GM, HR, Unichem Laboratories, stressed the importance of attitude, describing it as a key factor in professional success.
Four Sessions on Emerging Business Opportunities
The programme featured four sessions led by experts from industry and academia, covering diverse areas relevant to the future of business in Goa.
Mr. Sandesh Dhareshwar, Owner, Vimal Art Printery and Member, GCCI Manufacturing & Industrial Development Committee, addressed the students on ‘Manufacturing in Goa’, providing insights into the state’s industrial landscape.
Dr. Vipul Mathur, Dean, Dempo AI Business School, conducted a session on ‘The AI Generation’, focusing on the growing influence of artificial intelligence and its relevance to the next generation of professionals.
The third session, ‘How Consultants Solve Business Problems’, was conducted by Er. Leoneil Barros, Founder, False Nine Consulting. The session offered students an insight into consulting approaches and how businesses identify and address complex challenges.
The final session, ‘The Solar Economy: How Renewable Energy is Transforming Goa’s Business & Creating New Opportunities’, was led by Mr. Anish Sousa, Founder, Sun360. The session highlighted the changing renewable energy landscape and the opportunities emerging from the transition towards cleaner energy.
Strengthening the Campus-Corporate Connect
The interactive sessions and question-and-answer discussions gave students an opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals and gain practical perspectives that complement their academic learning.
The initiative sought to strengthen the connection between educational institutions and Goa’s business community, while helping students better understand the opportunities and expectations they may encounter as they enter the professional world.
The inaugural session was attended by Mr. Jeevan Khedekar, Co-ordinator of the BBA Programme, DMC; Dr. Rajeev Narvekar, Assistant Professor, DMC; Mr. Sanjay Amonkar, Director General, GCCI; and Ms. Pallavi H. Arondekar, Director and Programme Co-ordinator.

Through initiatives such as ‘Bridging Campus & Corporate’, GCCI continues to create platforms where students can interact with industry experts and gain a broader understanding of the business environment beyond the classroom.
