Panaji, August 14, 2026: The Government of Goa organised a Rozgar Melava at the Institute Menezes Braganza, Panaji, where Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant handed over offer letters to 222 candidates selected for appointment as Government Primary School Teachers.
Addressing the newly appointed teachers, CM Dr. Sawant highlighted the important role primary educators play in shaping children’s personalities, values, discipline and approach towards learning.
โTeachers help shape the foundation on which children build their future,โ the Chief Minister said, emphasising that the responsibility of a primary teacher extends beyond classroom instruction.
Dr. Sawant recalled the influence of his own primary school teachers and said the values, discipline and knowledge imparted during the early years of education often remain with students throughout their lives.
He congratulated the newly appointed teachers and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with dedication, integrity and discipline.
The Rozgar Melava also highlighted the Goa Government’s focus on transparent recruitment and creating employment opportunities for eligible candidates across various categories.
The appointment of 222 primary school teachers is expected to further strengthen teaching and learning in government schools across the state and support the delivery of quality foundational education.
The programme was attended by Minister for Fisheries Shri Nilkanth Halarnkar, St. Cruz MLA Shri Rodolfo Fernandes, Secretary (Education) Shri Prasad Lolienkar, IAS, Director of Education Shri Shailesh R. Sinai Zingde, along with officials from the Directorate of Education.
The appointment of the new teachers marks an important step towards strengthening Goa’s government school education system while providing employment opportunities to qualified candidates.
