Goa: FC Goa have announced the signing of experienced Spanish midfielder Álex Vallejo ahead of the 2026–27 football season, adding quality, composure, and leadership to their squad as they prepare for a new campaign under head coach Gouramangi Singh.
A product of Deportivo Alavés’ renowned youth academy, Vallejo arrives in Goa after an impressive career across several European leagues. During his professional journey, he has represented clubs including Sestao River, RCD Mallorca, Córdoba CF, CF Fuenlabrada, Huddersfield Town (England), Doxa Katokopias (Cyprus), Stal Mielec (Poland), and Diósgyőri VTK (Hungary).
Known for his tactical intelligence and calmness under pressure, Vallejo is capable of operating as both a defensive and central midfielder. His ability to dictate the tempo of a match, retain possession, and organise play is expected to provide FC Goa with greater stability and balance in midfield.
Club Delighted with Long-Term Target
Speaking on the signing, Lokesh Bherwani, Director of Football at FC Goa, revealed that the club had monitored Vallejo for several years.
“We’re delighted to welcome Álex to FC Goa. He’s a player we’ve been tracking closely for the last three years. His professionalism, tactical intelligence and ability to influence games at a high level make him an excellent addition. Beyond his quality on the pitch, his leadership and experience will also help our younger players develop.”

Head Coach Gouramangi Singh praised the Spaniard’s footballing intelligence and professionalism.
“Álex is an intelligent midfielder who understands the game exceptionally well. His ability to control possession, read situations and bring calmness to the team will be a huge asset. He’s also an outstanding professional who will positively influence the group.”

Expressing his excitement after completing the move, Álex Vallejo said he had heard positive things about FC Goa from former players and was eager to begin his new chapter in India.

Strengthening the Squad
Vallejo’s arrival further strengthens FC Goa’s midfield as the club continues building a competitive squad for the upcoming season. With vast experience across Spain, England, Cyprus, Poland and Hungary, the Spanish midfielder is expected to play a key role both on the field and in mentoring the club’s emerging talent.
FC Goa will now hope Vallejo’s experience and leadership help the Gaurs challenge strongly for honours during the 2026–27 campaign.
