Goa: FC Goa has officially announced Gouramangi Singh Moirangthem as its new Head Coach ahead of the upcoming football season, marking the beginning of a new chapter for the club. The 40-year-old succeeds Manolo Marquez, having spent the last four years as part of FC Goa’s coaching setup.
For Gouramangi, the appointment is more than just a professional milestone—it is a homecoming. More than two decades ago, the former India international arrived in Goa as a young footballer with dreams of making it big. Over the years, he became a familiar figure in Goan football, representing some of the state’s most iconic clubs, including Dempo SC, Sporting Clube de Goa, and Churchill Brothers.
After an accomplished playing career, Gouramangi returned to Goa in 2022 to join FC Goa’s coaching staff. Working closely with Manolo Marquez, he gained valuable experience and played a key role in the team’s development, preparing him for the responsibility of leading the Gaurs.
Speaking about his bond with the state, Gouramangi described Goa as his “second home.”
“Goa has given me everything, not just professionally, but personally.”
His connection with Goa extends beyond football, as his daughter was also born in the state, making the relationship deeply personal.
As Head Coach, Gouramangi now takes charge of one of Indian football’s most ambitious clubs. Supporters will be eager to see how he builds on the foundation laid by his predecessor while bringing his own vision and philosophy to the team.
With his extensive playing experience, knowledge of Goan football, and years spent within the FC Goa setup, Gouramangi’s appointment represents continuity, stability, and a new era for the club.
