U Mumba TT were crowned champions of Dream UTT Juniors Season 2 after producing a dominant 5-2 victory over Dabang Delhi TTC in the final at the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium in Goa.

The title triumph marked redemption for U Mumba, who had finished runners-up in the inaugural edition, and showcased the emergence of India’s next generation of table tennis stars.

Leading the charge was Ahona Ray, the tournament’s top overall draft pick, who recently added another international title to her growing list of achievements by winning the Under-15 Girls’ Singles title at the WTT Youth Star Contender Doha 2026. Ahona sealed the championship for U Mumba with an emphatic 11-4 victory over Sreejani Chakraborty in the decisive Girls’ Singles match.

Speaking after the victory, Ahona credited the collective effort behind the team’s success.

“It’s exciting to win the title. It was a complete team effort, and it wouldn’t have been possible without Somdev, our coaches and the entire support staff. Training alongside the senior players has also been a great experience.”

Earlier in the tie, Somdev Sengupta laid the perfect foundation with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Himon Mondal before partnering Ahona to secure another crucial victory in the Mixed Doubles, giving U Mumba complete control of the final.

Somdev described winning the championship as a dream come true.

“It was always a dream to play in Dream UTT Juniors, and to win the title makes it even more special. Our coaches and senior players motivated us throughout the tournament.”

Dream UTT Juniors, conducted alongside Butterfly Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) Season 7, serves as the league’s grassroots development programme aimed at nurturing India’s most promising young table tennis talent. Representing the seven UTT franchises, junior players gain invaluable experience by competing in a professional franchise environment while learning from some of the world’s leading table tennis athletes.
