Goa/Chennai: In a proud moment for Goa and Indian martial arts, 16-year-old Erica De Sequeira has been signed by Olympians Combat Academy, Chennai, becoming the academy’s first Indian female athlete and earning the opportunity to represent India at some of the world’s most prestigious Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) championships.
Erica trains at the Academy of Combat Sports Goa under the guidance of Coach Ronnyy (Raunak Singh). Her selection reflects years of dedication, discipline, and consistent performances across multiple combat sports.
As part of the academy, Erica will represent India at globally recognised tournaments including the AJP (Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro), IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) and the ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club), where she will compete against some of the world’s finest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes.
Rising Star of Indian Martial Arts
Despite being only 16 years old, Erica has already built an impressive sporting résumé. She has proudly represented Goa and India in national and international championships across Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Kickboxing, Muay Thai, and Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).
Balancing academics with the demanding schedule of elite-level competition, Erica has earned recognition for her commitment, resilience, and determination to continually improve her skills.
Her latest achievement represents another significant milestone in an already promising sporting career.
