Amitabh Bachchan Clarifies Viral Surgery Post, Says ‘I Am Fine’ Amid Health Rumours

Mumbai: Veteran Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan has put an end to widespread speculation surrounding his health after a recent blog post mentioning surgery, intensive care, and recovery sparked concern among fans.

Speaking to Variety India, the 83-year-old actor clarified that he had not undergone any surgery and assured everyone that he is doing well.

“I am fine. I did not undergo surgery. It is a misunderstood post,” Bachchan said.

Blog Post Triggered Health Concerns

Following the FIFA World Cup final, Bachchan shared a reflective post on his Tumblr blog describing the emotional and psychological challenges faced after surgery and a stay in intensive care. Since the post did not reference football, many readers assumed it was a personal health update.

The veteran actor explained that the blog was actually a metaphor inspired by Argentina’s defeat to Spain in the FIFA World Cup final and the emotional resilience shown by football legend Lionel Messi.

“I was giving an example that the period after a surgery or ICU, the most difficult time is when you come home and have to deal with your damaged condition. So when a champion loses, the most difficult time is dealing with yourself in its aftermath,” Bachchan explained.

He further clarified that the message was about how champions respond to setbacks rather than his own physical condition.

“Absolutely… So Far”

When asked directly about his health, Bachchan replied with a smile:

“Absolutely… so far.”

His reassurance brought relief to millions of fans who had been worried after reading the emotional blog post.

A Reflection on Resilience

In his blog, Bachchan reflected on the emotional challenges of overcoming adversity.

He wrote that while some people overcome setbacks with courage, others choose to live in the memories of past success, adding that every individual responds differently to life’s difficult phases.

The actor concluded the post with the message:

“Be well, be happy.”

Busy Year Ahead

Despite the rumours, Amitabh Bachchan continues to remain professionally active.

He will reprise his role as Ashwatthama in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD, directed by Nag Ashwin, alongside Prabhas and Kamal Haasan.

The legendary actor is also set to return as the host of Kaun Banega Crorepati, with the new season scheduled to premiere on August 10.

His clarification has reassured fans that he remains healthy and continues to actively pursue his upcoming film and television commitments.
