In a major boost to overseas employment opportunities, Japan has expressed interest in recruiting 50,000 skilled workers from Haryana to help address workforce shortages in Fukuoka Prefecture.
The initiative is expected to create thousands of international job opportunities for young people in Haryana while strengthening economic and workforce ties between India and Japan.
To prepare candidates, the Haryana government plans to introduce specialized training programmes focusing on Japanese language proficiency and technical skill development. The objective is to ensure students meet Japan’s workforce requirements and are well-equipped to work in sectors facing labour shortages.
The move comes as Japan continues to face an ageing population and declining workforce, increasing its reliance on skilled foreign workers across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, construction, engineering and technology.
Officials believe the collaboration will not only create better employment prospects for Haryana’s youth but also enhance global career opportunities through internationally recognised skill development.
The initiative is expected to strengthen India-Japan relations while contributing to workforce mobility and economic cooperation between the two countries.
