The cultural and environmental initiative ‘We, The Rivers of Goa’ concluded on 27 June 2026 with a moving dramatised reading titled ‘Yeh Nadi Kuch Keh Rahi Hai’ at The Shop, Saraya Eco Stay, Sangolda.
Stewarded by Miriam Koshy, the initiative celebrated Goa’s rivers through art, literature and community engagement, encouraging conversations around conservation and sustainable stewardship.
The concluding programme featured performances by the Dhaaee Aakhar team, weaving together poetry and storytelling that reflected on the emotional, cultural and ecological significance of Goa’s rivers.
Original poems by Niyati Patre, Asavari Gurav, and Salil Chaturvedi explored memories, emotions and personal connections associated with the state’s waterways.
The audience also experienced a dramatised presentation of a Konkani short story by Dr. Prakash Parienkar, performed by Ramita Gurav and Mamata Verlekar, alongside a Hindi short story by Hrishikesh Sulabh, performed by Salil Chaturvedi and Monika Kshatriya.
Dr. Prakash Parienkar was also present at the event.
Over the course of the initiative, We, The Rivers of Goa hosted a wide range of activities including poetry readings, storytelling sessions, workshops, public talks, film screenings, river walks and artistic performances.
The programme sought to inspire communities to reconnect with Goa’s rivers while fostering greater awareness about their ecological, cultural and historical importance.
The final evening brought together artists, writers, environmentalists and river enthusiasts, marking the culmination of a journey that encouraged dialogue, collaboration and collective responsibility towards protecting Goa’s waterways.
As the initiative concluded, it left behind a powerful message—that the rivers continue to tell stories, and it is up to communities to listen, preserve and protect them for future generations.
