Main Vaapas Aaunga Trailer: Diljit Dosanjh Leads An Emotional Partition-Era Love Story

The trailer of Main Vaapas Aaunga was unveiled on Tuesday, offering audiences an emotional glimpse into a love story shaped by the pain of Partition, memories of home and an enduring longing that survives across generations.

Directed by Imtiaz Ali, the film stars Naseeruddin Shah, Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari Wagh and Vedang Raina in key roles.

The three-minute-ten-second trailer opens with Naseeruddin Shah’s character expressing a deeply emotional final wish — to revisit his ancestral village, Sargodha, now located in Pakistan’s Punjab province, where he lived before the India-Pakistan Partition.

As the story unfolds, Diljit Dosanjh, playing Shah’s grandson, embarks on a journey to understand his grandfather’s emotional connection to a land left behind decades ago. Determined to fulfil his grandfather’s wish, he slowly uncovers a forgotten love story and painful memories tied to the Partition era.

The trailer also introduces Vedang Raina as the younger version of Naseeruddin Shah’s character, deeply in love with Sharvari Wagh’s character before history tore them apart. Their romance forms the emotional core of the narrative, exploring themes of separation, identity, memory and belonging.

One of the trailer’s most poignant dialogues comes from Diljit Dosanjh, who asks, “Ye ho sakta hai – apne dil ke andar ek ladki ko rakhna jise 78 years se dekha tak nahi?” The line encapsulates the film’s central theme — whether love and home can truly disappear with time.

The trailer balances personal heartbreak with historical trauma, painting a layered picture of how Partition impacted ordinary lives and relationships. The film also appears to explore how emotional wounds can continue across generations.

The music of the film has already emerged as one of its strongest highlights. Featuring compositions by A. R. Rahman with lyrics by Irshad Kamil, the soundtrack blends Punjabi folk influences with haunting melodies and emotional orchestration.

The trio of Imtiaz Ali, AR Rahman and Irshad Kamil reunites after delivering memorable musical collaborations in films like Rockstar and Jab We Met.

Main Vaapas Aaunga is scheduled to release in theatres on June 12 and is already generating strong anticipation among audiences for its emotional storytelling and powerful performances.
