Raja Shivaji Sets Record Opening with Massive Advance Booking, Beats Sairat Benchmark

Raja Shivaji has created a major milestone even before its theatrical release, with record-breaking advance bookings positioning it for the biggest opening day in Marathi cinema. Directed by Riteish Deshmukh, the historical drama has surpassed long-standing benchmarks, including those set by Sairat.

According to trade reports, the film closed its advance booking at approximately Rs 5.14 crore gross (excluding block seats), making it the highest-ever pre-release collection for a Marathi film. The Marathi version alone contributed around Rs 4.25 crore gross, with a nett collection of Rs 3.60 crore, underlining the strong demand in its core market.

The film’s impressive start has been driven largely by solid occupancy across both multiplexes and single screens in Maharashtra. Meanwhile, the Hindi-dubbed version has also shown promising traction, with advance booking figures nearing Rs 1 crore gross ahead of release.

Produced by Jio Studios and Mumbai Film Company, Raja Shivaji features an ensemble cast including Abhishek Bachchan, Bhagyashree, Genelia Deshmukh, and Sanjay Dutt in key roles. The film has also generated significant buzz due to a special appearance by Salman Khan, which has become one of the early talking points among audiences.

With its grand scale, historical narrative, and strong pre-release momentum, Raja Shivaji is now set to redefine box office expectations for Marathi cinema. All eyes are on its opening day performance, which could establish a new benchmark for regional films in India.
