Meet Rahyl Deshmukh: Riteish Deshmukh & Genelia D’Souza’s Son Makes Acting Debut in Raja Shivaji


Rahyl Deshmukh, the younger son of Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’Souza, has stepped into the world of cinema with his acting debut in the upcoming historical drama Raja Shivaji. The 10-year-old portrays the young Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the film, instantly capturing attention through glimpses seen in the recently released trailer.

The film, directed by Riteish Deshmukh, sees him playing the titular role of the legendary Maratha warrior king, while Genelia essays the role of Saibai. Rahyl’s debut has already created a buzz online, with audiences praising his confident screen presence at such a young age.

At the trailer launch, Riteish reflected on the long and challenging journey of bringing Raja Shivaji to life. He revealed that his aspiration to portray Shivaji Maharaj dates back to 2016, but the project faced multiple delays, including disruptions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking emotionally, he shared how the journey felt guided by timing and perseverance.

Riteish also expressed heartfelt gratitude to Genelia for her unwavering support throughout the years. He credited her belief and encouragement as a driving force behind the film’s completion, a moment that visibly moved her during the event.

Rahyl, along with his elder brother Riaan, has often been appreciated for his grounded upbringing and respectful demeanor in public appearances. His debut marks a new chapter for the Deshmukh family, blending legacy with fresh talent.

Raja Shivaji promises to bring alive the legacy of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, depicting his battles against powerful empires and his vision of establishing swarajya. The film also features prominent actors like Sanjay Dutt, Vidya Balan, and Abhishek Bachchan, and is slated for release on May 1.
