Pramod Sawant on Thursday described the journey of Caculo Earthmovers as a powerful inspiration for the youth of Goa, while emphasising the need for increased private and industrial investment to drive the state’s growth. He was speaking at the inauguration of the company’s second 3S (Sales, Service and Spares) facility at Karaswada in Mapusa.
The event was attended by Deepak Shetty, Group Executive Director, Managing Director and CEO of JCB India Limited, along with Chairman and Managing Director Manoj Caculo, Joint Managing Director Suraj Caculo, and members of the Caculo family.
The inauguration coincided with the birth anniversary of the company’s founder, Mohan Caculo, making the occasion especially significant as it paid tribute to his vision and legacy that continues to guide the organisation.
Congratulating the company on its expansion, the Chief Minister said that Goa needs more entrepreneurs and investments to create employment opportunities. He noted that with the revival of mining activities, the state presents numerous business prospects, urging Goans to seize these opportunities.
Dr Sawant also highlighted that employment opportunities are not limited to the government sector, pointing to the growing role of private enterprises in job creation. He added that recent expansions, including the Karaswada facility and a showroom in Verna, reflect the state’s improving business environment and pro-industry governance.
Speaking about JCB India Limited, he acknowledged its contribution to infrastructure development and its alignment with the ‘Make in India’ initiative. He also noted the company’s progressive workforce practices, including significant participation of women employees at its manufacturing units.
In his address, Manoj Caculo highlighted the company’s journey since its inception in 1979, emphasising its strong partnership with JCB and its commitment to supporting Goa’s infrastructure development. He noted that the new facility marks a key milestone as the business approaches five decades of operations, now led by the fifth generation of the Caculo family.
Deepak Shetty praised the longstanding relationship between JCB and Caculo Earthmovers, describing it as one built on trust and shared values over more than four decades.
Founded in 1979, Caculo Earthmovers has played a crucial role in Goa’s infrastructure growth, maintaining a dominant presence in the market. The new facility is designed to offer integrated sales, service, and spares support, backed by modern infrastructure and skilled technical teams, further strengthening its service network across the region.
