Goa Tourism Secures Lifetime ICPB Membership to Boost Global MICE Positioning

In a significant step towards strengthening its position in the global business tourism landscape, the Department of Tourism, Goa has secured a Lifetime Membership with the India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB). The collaboration is aimed at transforming Goa into a premier destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).

The formal ceremony saw the Lifetime Membership certificate handed over by Arun Srivastava, Joint Director General, Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, along with Neeraj Dhawan and Dr. Poonam Rajput. The event was held at Assembleia, Taj Cidade de Goa Horizon in Panaji.

This milestone aligns with Goa’s broader vision of expanding its tourism portfolio beyond leisure travel. The state is increasingly focusing on “bleisure” tourism—blending business with leisure—while building world-class infrastructure to attract global corporate events.

Goa’s transformation into a year-round destination is supported by upcoming convention centres at Rua-de-Ourem Creek and Margao, along with enhanced connectivity through the Manohar International Airport. These developments are expected to significantly boost the state’s ability to host large-scale international events.

Having successfully hosted global gatherings such as the G20 working group meetings, Goa is now actively promoting a sustainable and regenerative tourism model. By integrating heritage, wellness, eco-tourism, and hinterland experiences, the state offers a comprehensive ecosystem for modern event planners.

Speaking on the development, Rohan A. Khaunte highlighted that the ICPB membership reinforces Goa’s commitment to attracting high-value global events while ensuring sustainable growth. He emphasized the importance of combining infrastructure with Goa’s unique experiential appeal.

Officials from ICPB also noted that Goa’s inclusion as a Lifetime Member will significantly enhance its visibility across national and international platforms. The partnership is expected to open doors for greater collaboration with event organizers and stakeholders across the global MICE network.

Additionally, venues across Goa will be encouraged to seek Associate Membership under ICPB, further strengthening the state’s integration into the national business tourism ecosystem.

This strategic collaboration marks a new chapter in Goa’s tourism journey, positioning it not just as a leisure hotspot but as a dynamic hub for global business events and corporate engagement.
