Workshop on Sexual Harassment at Workplace Conducted by Goa State Legal Services Authority


Porvorim, April 5, 2025: The Goa State Legal Services Authority (GSLSA) successfully conducted a workshop on sexual harassment at the workplace, aiming to promote awareness and ensure a safe working environment. The event was held at the High Court Building in Porvorim, Goa.

The workshop commenced with a welcome address delivered by Member Secretary of GSLSA, Ms. Shabnam Shaikh. She emphasized the importance of creating a safe and respectful workplace, free from any form of harassment.

Justice Valmiki Menezes, Chairperson of the High Court Legal Services Committee, delivered the inaugural address. He stressed the need for a collective effort to prevent sexual harassment at the workplace and encouraged participants to take an active role in promoting awareness.

The workshop was attended by employees from various government departments, including some court staff. Senior Advocate Ms. Annarkali Agni and Advocate Neha Shirodkar were the esteemed speakers for the event. They provided valuable insights and guidance on the legal aspects of sexual harassment at the workplace.

The event was also graced by the presence of President of the High Court Bar Association, Senior Advocate Zilman Coelho Peirera. Registrar Administrative Mr. D.P. Satawalekar, Registrar Judicial Mr. Shudhir Shirgaonker, and Deputy Registrar Mr. Shanoor Audi were also in attendance.

The workshop concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Member Secretary Shabnam Shaikh. The program was skillfully compered by Saile Pednekar.

The GSLSA’s initiative to conduct this workshop demonstrates its commitment to promoting awareness and preventing sexual harassment at the workplace. By providing a platform for discussion and education, the authority aims to create a safe and respectful work environment for all.

Unveiling the Secrets of Iconography: A 3-Day Workshop in Goa


In a bid to promote cultural awareness and understanding, Secretary (Archaeology) Shri. Prasad Lolayekar, IAS, inaugurated a three-day workshop on “An Introduction to Iconography” at the Lecture Hall, Sanskruti Bhavan, Patto Panaji. The workshop, organized by the Department of Archaeology, brought together experts and enthusiasts to delve into the fascinating world of iconography.

The workshop aimed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the study of iconography, covering its principles, methods, and applications. Participants had the opportunity to engage with renowned experts in the field, including Director of the Department of Archaeology, Dr. Nilesh B. Fal Dessai, who was also present at the inauguration.

A Platform for Cultural Exchange and Learning

The three-day workshop provided a unique platform for cultural exchange and learning, bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds and disciplines. Through lectures, discussions, and interactive sessions, participants gained a deeper understanding of iconography and its significance in understanding cultural heritage.

Promoting Cultural Awareness and Preservation

The initiative is part of the Department of Archaeology’s efforts to promote cultural awareness and preservation in Goa. By organizing such workshops and events, the department aims to create a sense of ownership and responsibility among the local community towards preserving their cultural heritage.

Empowering Pink Force Personnel: Self-Defence Martial Arts Workshop


In a bid to enhance the safety and confidence of lady police personnel, a Self-Defence Martial Arts workshop was organized under the initiative of DIGP (Range) Smt. Varsha Sharma, IPS, and the guidance of SP Pink Force Smt. Ezilda Dโ€™Souza and LPI SPCR/Pink Force Mrs. Mira Dโ€™silva. The workshop was conducted by Miss Erica J De Sequeira, an international Jiu-Jitsu player, and her coach, Master Raunak Singh, an experienced army trainer.

The workshop was a response to the rising law and order challenges, aiming to equip Pink Force personnel with essential self-defence skills. The training focused on boosting their confidence and ability to handle potential dangers effectively.

A total of 35 lady police personnel actively participated in the session, where various self-defence techniques were demonstrated and practiced. The workshop empowered participants to safeguard themselves and ensure public safety. By learning these valuable skills, the personnel can now respond more effectively in critical situations.

Miss Erica J De Sequeira, a renowned international Jiu-Jitsu player and 3rd rank holder in world professional Jiu-Jitsu, brought her expertise to the workshop. Her coach, Master Raunak Singh, an experienced army trainer, provided additional guidance and support.

This initiative is a significant step towards creating a safer environment for both the police personnel and the public. By empowering lady police personnel with self-defence skills, we can build a more confident and effective law enforcement team.
