Governor of Goa Visits Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, Panaji


Governor of Goa Shri Pusapati Ashok Gajapathi Raju, along with First Lady Smt. Suneela Raju, visited the iconic Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church in Panaji, invoking blessings and taking a moment of quiet reflection at one of Goa’s most renowned heritage sites.

The Governor and First Lady were warmly welcomed by church representatives as they arrived at the centuries-old structure, admired for its pristine white façade, symmetrical stairways, and deep historical significance. The visit highlighted the church’s spiritual and cultural importance, not only to Panaji but to Goa’s broader religious heritage.

During their time at the church, the dignitaries offered prayers and spent moments in contemplation inside the revered sanctuary. Their visit comes at a time when Goa continues to celebrate its rich religious tradition, architectural legacy, and communal harmony.

Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception Church, originally built in 1541 and rebuilt in 1600, stands as one of the oldest and most photographed churches in Goa. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar’s 3-Day Visit to Goa


he Vice President of India, Jagdeep Dhankhar, will be visiting Goa from May 20 to May 22. This visit marks a significant event for the state, highlighting its importance on the national stage. During his three-day stay, Dhankhar is scheduled to engage in various activities that showcase Goa’s rich heritage, economic potential, and agricultural advancements.

On May 20, Dhankhar will arrive at Dabolim International Airport in South Goa at 2 pm. Following his arrival, he will proceed to Raj Bhavan at Dona Paula. This visit to Raj Bhavan sets the stage for his subsequent engagements in the state, where he will interact with officials and dignitaries.

The next day, May 21, will see Dhankhar visiting Mormugao Port in Vasco town, South Goa. During his visit, he will interact with senior management and staff, underscoring the importance of the port in Goa’s economic landscape. Later, he will meet senior Indian Coast Guard officers onboard a coast guard ship, highlighting the state’s strategic maritime significance.

On May 22, the final day of his visit, Dhankhar will commission the statues of ‘Charaka – Father of Ayurveda’ and ‘Sushruta – Father of Surgery’ at Raj Bhavan. This ceremony will pay tribute to India’s rich medical heritage. Subsequently, he will visit the Indian Centre for Agricultural Research (ICAR) Central Coastal Agricultural Research Institute at Old Goa. At ICAR-CCARI, he will interact with farmers and scientists, showcasing the state’s agricultural advancements and highlighting the importance of research in the sector.

After a packed schedule, Vice President Dhankhar will depart for New Delhi on May 22, concluding his three-day visit to Goa. His presence in the state is expected to foster growth, recognize achievements, and promote development in various sectors.
