The 71st National Film Awards were announced in New Delhi, honouring cinematic brilliance from films certified between January 1 and December 31, 2023. 12th Fail bagged Best Feature Film, while acting honours went to Shah Rukh Khan (Jawan), Vikrant Massey (12th Fail), and Rani Mukerji (Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway). The Kerala Story, Parking, Animal, and Hanu-Man also earned major wins.
Superstar Shah Rukh Khan was filled with “gratitude, pride and humility” after winning his first-ever Best Actor honour at the 71st National Film Awards. Sharing the award with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail, Shah Rukh’s win was for his powerhouse performance in Jawan, where he played dual roles in the ₹1,100+ crore global blockbuster. In a heartfelt video, the actor reflected on the significance of the award and reaffirmed his dedication to cinema.
