Do You Know about this beautiful Panjim Spring – Boca de Vaca?

Springs are beautiful places to sit back and relax, and especially when it is in the place where you work, it helps you re surge a new vibe by simply visiting the same. Situated almost on a lower hill, Boca De Vaca is one of the two springs which exist in the Captial City – Panjim.

If one takes a closer look at this structure, one would notice that this structure has a face of a cow as a part of it’s architecture. The spring water flowing from a Granite Cow’s Head which is built during the Portuguese era. Well, that’s right from where, this spring got it’s name – Boca de Vaca which means ‘Face of the Cow’ or the ‘Cow’s Face’.

Earlier this place was used as a major source of water supply in the capital city – Panjim. But with the changing times this too was highly neglected, and this turned out to be one of the major reasons for the almost dying state of this architecture. But the only thing that has kept this place alive was the source of fresh water which is still widely known for it’s medicinal properties.  This structure now stands as a part of a temple which is dedicated to Sai Baba.

This massive Portuguese built structure was reworked and restored only recently by an initiative taken to beautify and restore this beautiful place by Goa Tourism and Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC). It has been assured that this place turns out to be a major tourist attraction restoring the same. Also additionally the place is very well maintained. And in case you walk to this place or drive to this place and want to spend some quality time, well there are benches too available here to sit back and relax watching the spring water.

A brownie point would be visiting this place in the evening. This place is well lit and the fresh flow of water re energizes your soul with the cool breeze touching you and makes it even more why you should visit this place.

HOW TO GET THERE?

Simple! Google Map for you – directions towards Boca De Vaca Spring.  But take care as Google is not well versed with which road Corporation of City of Panjim (CCP) has marked as no entry or as one way!!! Carefully check the sign boards on the way, while heading towards the Destination.

Panjim’s Mangrove Board Walk

Allys!! Good Morning my lovelies! It’s Friday – the best-est time of the week as I get to feature a place of my choice on my blog. Yes it is the best-est feeling to explore new places and then feature the same on the blog…! and You know what makes it special, your mails, your replies about how much you’ll love my work.

In this edition, I recently visited a place accidentally, it wasn’t a part of a plan as such but yes! I visited this place and I must say it is a really beautiful location. Upon interacting to the people and the guards, I got to learn that this place is open for the general public and it is recently inaugurated. However, not many people are aware about this place. This place is called the #MangroveBoardWalk

Picture clicked by a friend and Edited by be!

You know what fascinated me the most about this place was, the entire footbridge is built without cutting the natural mangroves, which makes it so rich and gives you a feeling of one with the nature. If one takes a closer look at the history, well the relationship that the Mangroves and Goa share is special. Well, now you will have a question why exactly they both share a special relationship. The answer is very simple. Goa is a house to about 16 different kind of mangroves and in our country, Goa is the state that has the best mangroves in the whole of India. So You will now agree about this special relationship.  The very concept of having a Board Walk in this place, not only serves as a tourist spot but also it is the very idea  that needs to be appreciated that this Board Walk was built without cutting down mangroves- In true sense – a step to preserve the identity of mangroves and appreciate the beauty that it brings to the state of Goa. Thus, this initiative makes this even special.

The place recently inaugurated is not known to many people. But hey! let’s not forget the publicity that no other medium can do, can be heavily done by social media. And when I visit a place, I at least make it a point to tell my one friend about it and ask my that friend to share the news about the same to another and the chain continues. Well, another plus point that I have is this blog – Which instantly connects to so many of you all.

Exploring this place happened all of a sudden as I told you! The story goes like this – we were hunting for a location to shoot a sequence for a feature programme and well, there you go! Here’s the link – PARSEKAR … ONE MAN – MANY DREAMS where I shot my bit for this video.

HOW TO GET HERE?

Just take the road heading towards Central Library, Panjim and Enter the parking side and keep walking till you see towards your left hand side the entrance of this beautiful Mangroves Footbridge.

TIPS OF THE DAY

  • If you are visiting this place, use a mosquito repellent cream to avoid mosquito bites.
  • While you click pictures be careful – try to avoid clicking pictures leaning on the bridge handrail.

This is once again another place one could visit if you are in the capital city of Goa – Panjim, Explore the true beauty and most importantly share photos using the hashtag of #MangroveBoardWalk, #TravelwithAllycaral or #BeingAllycaral on any social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or BlogLovin. Do Like, Comment and Share. It’s my favorite – M S Dhoni’s Birthday Week! Tomorrow is his birthday – 7th July! (I know that was out of context) Anyways, have an amazingly fantastic Weekend! Cheers to good times!

Airbnb Launches Experiences In Goa

Travel leaves you speechless and turns you into a storyteller. And what better than knowing about the story from the native’s mouth. Airbnb just got it right, with recently launching it’s one of it’s kind experience in the very state of Goa. This enchances the traveller’s experience as you get to know inside stories about the facts from the locals itself.

Guide Books help you alot, but they don’t answer your questions and so locals are very important!

Discussing on the Launch of this one of a kind experience in Goa, the head of Airbnb Global Public Policy & Communication, Chris Lehane said “Airbnb Experiences make travel magical again by immersing guests in local communities around the world. We want Goans to participate and benefit from local tourism by sharing their interests and passions, enabling them to make additional remuneration.”

Planning to Travel to Know About Goa?

Airbnb is to your rescue – Here are the Key Highlights one should look out for in the Experiences in Goa :

Windsurf with a Champ

1. Windsurf with a Champ: This experience is hosted by Derrick Menezes, a 15 time national windsurfing champion and pioneering water sports aficionado in Goa who has also represented India at the 1998 Asian Games. In this fun windsurfing experience, Derrick teaches the basics of windsurfing at beautiful Hawaii beach in the village of Dona Paula. By the end of the session, guests will gain enough confidence to sail across the wind back and forth.

Panaji City Walking Tour

2. Panaji City Walking Tour: This experience is hosted by Ramachandran, a Goan who is an avid traveler and passionate about sharing historical knowledge of his home town. Focusing on the local stories and trivia of Panaji, the capital of Goa that overlooks the magnificent Mandovi River, the tour begins with the historic buildings and churches of the Latin Quarter where one can witness colonial Portuguese influence first hand.  Guests will visit quaint narrow lanes dotted with colorful heritage buildings with terracotta-tiled roofs, wrought iron balconies and arched oyster-shell windows. The walk ends with a traditional Goan breakfast.

Old Goa Heritage Walk

3. Old Goa Heritage Walk: This experience is hosted by Pooja & Rohan, who belong to one of Goa’s well known families with Portuguese roots. In this heritage walk, guests get to visit 5-6 UNESCO World Heritage sites located in Old Goa.  They will learn about the history of the colonial Portuguese era, the establishment of Catholicism in the state, and tales of Old Goa which was founded in the 15th century as a port on the banks of the Mandovi River.

Wow! Now that sounds interesting, isn’t it? Airbnb Experiences are actively designed and led by inspiring locals. A plus point what makes me inclined towards this, is that they go beyond typical tours or classes by immersing guests in each host’s unique world. So, If you are planning a holiday in Goa or if you are in Goa and would want to know about the adventure, heritage, Airbnb is all set to host you. I’m gonna personally take these tours as they seem very interesting. And I will write about it soon! You too can join me on these tours… Until We Meet Again! #TravelWithAllycaral
