Baale BPS Open 2025 Off to a Smashing Start; Arnam Ghosh Blazes Through to the Men’s Open Singles Quarterfinals 


Panaji, February 16: Kicking off the second edition of the Baale BPS Open 2025 with high octane on court performances, Arnam Ghosh qualified for the quarterfinals in the men’s open singles category, defeating his opponents in the second round and pre-quarterfinals with a score of 6-1. 

In the same category Prithvi Naik beat Kishor Metry 6-0, Anup Sardesai defeated Vihaan Prijeeth Krishnan 6-1, Saurish Naik vanquished Chetan Dattaram Rane 6-2, Rahul Pinto overpowered Saurabh Trivedi 6-3 and Joao Sousa one-upped Vinod Kumar 6-4 in the category’s other first round matches. 

Round two of the men’s open singles category saw Nishad Shevde, Dmitry Smirnov, Siddharth Nunes and Prince Agnelo Joven de Silva play a powerful game and win with a score of 6-0 against their respective opponents Amulya Sethi, Joshua Cardozo, Dr Suraj S Patlekar and Joao Sousa. Arnam Ghosh, who got a bye in the first round, and Pankaj Naik handed Anup Sardesai and Allan Fernandes defeats with a score of 6-1, respectively, while Lyndon JP trounced Arhan Gaunkar 6-2; Jai Gill beat Saurish Naik 6-3 and Prithvi Naik fought hard to overcome Wes Ryan Cardoso’s challenge 6-4.

In round three, which served as the pre-quarterfinals, Arnam Ghosh trumped Lyndon JP 6-1; and Siddharth Nunes breezed through his match against Ojasvi Singh Mann 6-0.

The second edition of the Baale BPS Open 2025, supported by the Goa State Tennis Association and the Baale Resort Goa, recently commenced at the B.P.S Sports Club, Margao, with several matches underway.

Having witnessed several matches commencing early in the day, the ever-growing passion for tennis in the state is admirable, and we are glad to have a part in helping take the sport forward professionally in Goa. Speaking at the inaugural, Vikram Verlekar, sports chairman of the B.P.S Sports Club said, “The addition of the Ladies Doubles and the Wheelchair Tennis Challenger Tournament has been a significant step in making the Baale BPS Open more inclusive and competitive. It’s been great to see the enthusiasm and talent in these new categories, and we look forward to even greater participation in the future. Wishing all the players the very best.”

The tournament will be on till February 23, with unique categories, including the Under-10 category and Wheelchair Tennis Challenger Tournament, opening new avenues for tennis in the state.

Registration Underway for the Second Edition of Baale BPS Open 2025

~ This time, the Baale BPS Open 2025 will introduce the Ladies Doubles category, marking an exciting new addition to the tournament.

Panaji, Feb 2025 – Registrations for the second edition of the Baale BPS Open 2025, an all-Goa ranking tennis tournament, are underway, promising another thrilling showcase of talent and sportsmanship. Supported by Baale Resort Goa and the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA), the event is being organised by the prestigious B.P.S Sports Club in Margao. 

The matches will commence on February 16 at the B.P.S Sports Club.

The tournament will open with matches in the Masters category, followed by the historic Wheelchair Tennis Challenger Tournament on February 22, a first-of-its-kind event in Goa, where para-athletes will test their skills on a tennis court. The tournament is aimed at promoting inclusivity in sports. The event will conclude with the highly anticipated Open Category matches on February 23, where some of Goa’s top-ranked players will compete for ranking points and prestigious titles.

The Baale BPS Open 2025 features an extensive lineup of categories to cater to players of all age groups and skill levels. In the Masters Segment, participants can compete in Masters Singles 45+, Masters Singles 55+, Masters Doubles 45+ (minimum age 45), and Masters Doubles 55+ (minimum age 55). The Open Category includes Under-10 (Girls and Boys), Under-14 (Girls and Boys), Under-18 (Girls and Boys), Men’s Singles, Ladies’ Singles, Men’s Doubles, and Mixed Doubles. Participants are allowed to compete in a maximum of three events.

This year’s edition marks the debut of the Ladies Doubles category, further broadening the scope of the tournament and promoting gender diversity in sports.

Gadre Gaspar Dias Open Tennis Tournament Kicks Off in Goa


The 10th edition of the prestigious Gadre Gaspar Dias Open tennis tournament commenced on January 23, 2025, at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias premises in Miramar, Goa. Organized jointly by Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias and the Gadre Group, in collaboration with the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA), this year’s tournament has received a record-breaking 533 entries.

The tournament began with matches in the Masters category, which saw several top-seeded players in action. In the men’s singles 45+ category, Rahul Kapse, Amit Tambe, Pavan Mokashi, Vikas Aswani, Nitesh Bhansali, Bulu, and Sattyam all secured convincing 6-0 wins over their respective opponents.

Other notable winners in the Masters category included Natraj Gujran, Sagar Pattekari, Rohan Lotlikar, Yuvraj Patil, Srivathsa Rao, Ashutosh Pednekar, Naveen Cardoza, Sandeep Agate, and Vivek Chaurasiya.

The highly anticipated Open category matches are scheduled to commence on January 27 and will run until February 2. With a strong lineup of players participating in the tournament, fans can expect some thrilling matches in the coming days.

Registrations Underway for Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2025, Goa’s Premier Tennis Tournament.

Panaji, January 2025 – Registration for the tenth edition of the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2025, one of the most prestigious tennis tournaments in the country, is now underway. 

Tournament organisers have said that this year’s edition has so far attracted over 250 entries across various categories, underscoring the tournament’s popularity among seasoned athletes and emerging talent from Goa and outside the state. 

Organised by Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias in Panaji, in partnership with the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA) and supported by the Gadre Group, the tournament attracts top tennis talent from across India. Scheduled to begin on January 23, this one-of-a-kind event in Goa promises thrilling competition in both the Masters and Open categories, showcasing the skill and prowess of seasoned players and rising stars alike from the state as well as the rest of the country. 

Registration for the tournament closes on January 15.

The tournament is scheduled to begin with the masters category matches from January 23 to January 26, followed by the intensely competitive open category matches from January 27 to February 2.

The categories in the masters segment are  masters singles 45+, masters singles 55+, masters singles 60+, masters doubles 90+ (min age 35), masters doubles 110+ (min age 40), veteran doubles 120+ (min age 40) and 35+ mixed doubles – the only mixed category in the Masters segment. The rest of the Masters events are exclusively for men.

The open category features six sub-categories: under-12 (girls and boys), under-16 (girls and boys), men’s singles, ladies’ singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles.
