MCC Thunder Crowned MCL 11 T20 Champions After Dominant Final Win

MCC Thunder were crowned champions of the MCL 11 T20 Cricket Tournament after registering a convincing 25-run victory over MCC Tigers in the final played at the MCC Ground, Margao. The final witnessed an entertaining contest as Thunder produced a dominant all-round performance to seal the title in style, with Sudesh Rane being adjudged Man of the Match for his decisive contribution with both bat and ball.

Batting first, MCC Thunder set the tone early and posted an imposing total of 189 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Their innings was marked by aggressive stroke play and excellent momentum throughout, with Om Fadte scoring a brisk 35 off 20 balls, Sudhir Shet contributing 35 off 24 deliveries, and Ved Mahambre smashing a rapid 36 off just 15 balls. Iftikhar Agha added late impetus with an unbeaten 30 off 16 balls, ensuring Thunder finished strongly. For MCC Tigers, the bowling effort was shared among Mrunmay Das, Pranav Dhuri, Viraj Tar and Balkrishna Hodarkar, who managed to pick up wickets at regular intervals.

In reply, MCC Tigers faced an uphill task chasing 190 and were bowled out for 164 in 20 overs. Viraj Tar played a spirited knock of 32 off 15 balls, while Chaitanya Kamat top-scored with 36. Contributions from Nikit Naik Dalal and Pranav Dhuri kept hopes alive briefly, but the required rate proved too demanding.

MCC Thunder’s bowlers held their composure under pressure, with Sudesh Rane delivering a match-winning spell of 4 for 23. He was well supported by Iftikhar Agha, who claimed two wickets, and Sudhir Shet, who chipped in with one. Their disciplined bowling ensured that Thunder maintained control throughout the chase and sealed a memorable championship victory.

The prize distribution ceremony was attended by PWD Minister Digambar Kamat as chief guest, along with MCC member Sagun Naik and Raghuvir Kunkolienkar, marking a fitting conclusion to an exciting edition of the MCL 11 T20 tournament.

18 Juners and Risers Register Thrilling Wins in Advocates Cricket League

Competitive cricket took centre stage at the Chicalim Ground, Vasco, as 18 Juners and Risers registered hard-fought victories in the Advocates Cricket League T20 tournament on Saturday. Impressive performances from Viraj Tar, Akash Kassar, and Kalpesh Kamat ensured both encounters remained closely contested, much to the delight of the spectators. With these results, 18 Juners joined United Brothers in the semifinals, while four teams continue to battle for the remaining two spots.

In the first match, Legal Titans set a challenging total of 161 for 7 in their 20 overs, with Sachin Ramnathkar and Satyam Ghogale contributing 38 runs each and Satchit Mauskar remaining unbeaten on 24. The bowling attack of 18 Juners kept things tight, with Kashinath Posnaik, Rohan Shirodkar, and Viraj Tar picking up two wickets apiece.

Chasing the target, 18 Juners were guided by a decisive innings from Viraj Tar, who struck a composed 62. Pradosh Dangui added valuable support with 27, and the team benefited from crucial extras to reach 162 for 7 in 19.5 overs, sealing victory with three balls to spare despite resistance from Legal Titans bowler Prasad Vaigankar.

In the second match of the day, Lawyer Challengers posted a competitive 179 for 6, built on solid contributions from Dattaprasad Shirodkar, Achit Shigwan, and Vrusaj Talaulikar. Risers responded with confidence as Akash Kassar and Kalpesh Kamat struck fine half-centuries to anchor the chase. Shubham Gadekar’s unbeaten 28, featuring three sixes, ensured Risers crossed the target at 182 for 5 in 19.1 overs to register a five-wicket win.

With the league stage nearing its conclusion, the Advocates Cricket League T20 continues to deliver exciting contests, setting the stage for an eagerly awaited semifinal round.

MCC Thunder booked their place in the final of the MCL 11 T20 cricket tournament with a hard-fought 14-run victory over MCC Knights in the second qualifier, played at the MCC Ground in Margao. The win sets up an exciting title clash against MCC Tigers, scheduled for Sunday, and capped off a closely contested encounter that kept spectators engaged till the final over.

Batting first, MCC Thunder put up a competitive total of 169 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Om Fadte anchored the innings with a composed knock of 38, while Dr. Rohan Badve contributed a vital 37 and Roshan Naik added a quick 28 to bolster the middle order. The Thunder batters showed intent and resilience, ensuring a challenging target despite disciplined bowling from MCC Knights, with Siddharth Ghanekar emerging as the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2 for 25.

In response, MCC Knights mounted a spirited chase and remained in contention for much of the innings, eventually finishing on 155 for 7 in 20 overs. Sairaj Dhond top-scored with 27, while Smit Dalvi’s 26 and Pranav Biche’s 21 kept the scoreboard ticking. However, MCC Thunder’s bowlers maintained pressure at crucial moments, preventing the Knights from gaining momentum in the final overs.

Dr. Rohan Badve delivered an outstanding all-round performance, following up his batting effort with impressive bowling figures of 2 for 21. He received excellent support from Sudhir Shet, who claimed 2 for 15, and Sudesh Rane with 2 for 25, as Thunder’s disciplined attack restricted the scoring and sealed the victory. Paul Fernandes also chipped in with a wicket, conceding 27 runs.

For his impactful contributions with both bat and ball, Dr. Rohan Badve was adjudged Man of the Match, with the award presented by Mandar Parodkar. Prestige XI March into Manorva Cup 2025 Final with Commanding Semi-Final Win

Prestige XI stormed into the Final of the Manorva Cup 2025 with a commanding 59-run victory over MWA Mencurem in the semi-final of the 21st Manorva Trophy, the All Goa Panchayat Level Leather Ball T-20 Cricket Tournament, played at the Chapora Ground, Anjuna–Vagator.

Batting first, Prestige XI posted a competitive total of 162 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by a superb knock from Tushar Pednekar, who was later adjudged Man of the Match for his fluent 78 off 44 deliveries. Sahil Warang provided valuable support with a quick 17 runs, helping Prestige XI maintain momentum during the middle and death overs.

In reply, MWA Mencurem struggled to cope with Prestige XI’s disciplined bowling attack and were bowled out for 103. Sahil Warang starred with the ball, delivering a match-winning spell of 4 wickets for 28 runs in his four overs. The bowling unit applied sustained pressure throughout the innings, never allowing MWA Mencurem to settle in their chase.

Prestige XI secured a place in the Manorva Cup 2025 Final with a commanding all-round performance, set for 4th January 2026 at the same venue. Man of the Match Tushar Pednekar starred in the semi-final of the 21st Manorva Trophy, organised by the Manorva Sports & Cultural Club, Shapora, under the Goa Cricket Association.

The tournament has featured 20 teams from across Goa competing in a knockout format, showcasing competitive leather-ball cricket at the grassroots level. All matches have been hosted at the Chapora Ground, which has witnessed enthusiastic crowds and high-quality cricket throughout the competition.

As the tournament nears its conclusion, the Manorva Trophy continues to reinforce its status as one of Goa’s most competitive and well-organised panchayat-level cricket tournaments, with the final expected to draw significant interest from local cricket fans and supporters.
