Giorgio Armani Dies at 91: A Titan of Fashion Who Redefined Elegance

Giorgio Armani, the Italian fashion designer whose name became synonymous with elegance, precision, and power, has died at the age of 91. Over a career that spanned more than six decades, Armani changed the language of fashion—removing stiffness from men’s tailoring, empowering women with refined suits, and leaving an unmistakable mark on red carpet culture.

Born in 1934 in Piacenza, northern Italy, Armani came from humble beginnings shaped by war and scarcity. He originally pursued medicine and served in the army before beginning his career in fashion as a window dresser. It was there, on the shop floor, that Armani’s acute understanding of fabric, form, and what people wanted to wear was forged. Rising through the ranks, he became a buyer, then a designer, eventually working for Nino Cerruti before founding his own label in 1975 with his partner Sergio Galeotti.

Together, they built an empire that challenged convention. Armani softened menswear—introducing more fluid shapes and luxurious fabrics—and hardened womenswear, with sharply tailored suits that reflected women’s growing presence in the workplace. His designs communicated quiet power and modernity, worn by some of the most influential figures of the 20th and 21st centuries.

Hollywood embraced his vision early on. In 1980, Richard Gere wore Armani in American Gigolo, launching the designer into global stardom. From there, he became a red carpet mainstay, dressing stars like Julia Roberts, Cate Blanchett, Zendaya, and Russell Crowe. He created stage outfits for Lady Gaga and film costumes for The Untouchables and The Wolf of Wall Street. Armani understood better than anyone that image was power—and his garments delivered it.

He was also a man of principle. In 2006, he became the first designer to ban underweight models from his runway shows, following the tragic death of Ana Carolina Reston. His business remained fiercely independent, resisting outside investment while expanding into beauty, fragrance, hotels, music, and sport. With annual revenues exceeding £2bn and a personal fortune estimated at $13bn, Armani was one of the last great independently owned fashion houses in the world.

Tributes poured in from across the globe. Donatella Versace called him “a giant,” Julia Roberts described him as “a true friend,” and British designer Paul Smith praised his “staying power” and “down-to-earth nature.” Actor Russell Crowe recalled Armani being present for many significant moments in his life, while Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni called him “an icon, a tireless worker, a symbol of the best of Italy.”

Even in his final years, Armani remained creatively active, presenting his last collection remotely from Milan in July 2025. His March show earlier that year was a call for global harmony—his design always reflecting the times, always evolving with the world.

Behind the discipline and minimalism was a deeply private man who lived with quiet intensity. He swam daily in a specially designed pool just one yard wide. He worked tirelessly, never satisfied, always in pursuit of perfection. Armani once said, “I never give up until I’ve achieved the results I want.”

He is survived by the brand he built, the style he transformed, and a legacy woven not only into fabric but into the very way people see themselves. Giorgio Armani wasn’t just a designer—he was a revolutionary. And he will be remembered as one of the greatest ever to shape the world of fashion.

Rahul Mishra Opens Doors to His Exquisite Flagship Store in Kala Ghoda’s Luxury Mansion

Written by Intern Queeny George M.H , Team Allycaral

In the bustling heart of Mumbai’s art district, Kala Ghoda, internationally acclaimed fashion designer Rahul Mishra has unveiled his flagship store — not just a retail space, but a living museum of art, architecture, and couture.

Rahul Mishra, the 2023 International Woolmark Prize winner and the first Indian to present at Paris Haute Couture Week, takes us through the grand mansion that now houses his latest creative expression. Once an ice factory dating back to the 1970s, the 80-year-old structure has been magnificently transformed into a 75,500 square foot fashion sanctuary with ceilings towering over 150 feet.

This restored mansion pays homage to its colonial roots — the same neighborhood where King Edward VII once stood with his horse and where British architectural influence still stands tall. Today, the area is also home to the iconic Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, and this new flagship store fits seamlessly into its rich tapestry of culture.

Inside, the store is not just about couture — it’s a sensory experience. From embroidered swatches and archival motifs to rooms filled with dried floral arrangements and art installations, each space tells a story. The wooden carvings embedded into textile designs reflect a poetic fusion of fashion and architecture. Every element, from the nude-toned rustic wall finishes to the handcrafted floral French knots by skilled artisans, contributes to the mansion’s deep colonial and artisanal undertones.

“The mansion is a zen of art and peace where I can feel the aura around it,” says Mishra. The mansion’s intimate experience continues with personal shopping lounges, coveted handcrafted bags, and a couture atelier that feels more like a gallery than a store.

Mishra’s approach goes beyond just showcasing fashion — it embodies a deep respect for storytelling, sustainability, and heritage. The mansion isn’t merely a space to shop, but a place to feel, see, and connect with Indian craft in its most luxurious form.

4 Steps to have Summer Ready Skin

Hello Allys,

Hope you all are keeping well this Summer. The temperatures in Goa has already started shooting up and considering the fact that we are on the 1st day of the May month. All I can say, May and Summer both have decided to come hand in hand to say “Hello” to us!

Considering the rising temperature in the state, all you need to do is take very good care of yourself. And this week, I have decided to give you’ll quick tips about how to keep your skin care routine right specially during the summers.

So, Let’s begin :

1. Use a Sunscreen Lotion – I know this tip everyone knows but this is the most important weapon against the Sun’s Harsh rays. And this is something, several people avoid. During the Summers, the UV rays are much higher and so using Sunscreen is a must. Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of about 30 is advisable for Indian Summers. So choose your sunscreen wisely. One more important thing to be noted is that several people apply sunscreen and instantly get in contact with the sun. Well, this shouldn’t be done, you should apply Sunscreen about 20 – 30 minutes before stepping outside. So that your sunscreen blends with your skin. Once you apply the sunscreen the protection remains for 4-5 hours, after which one needs to re apply the sunscreen. Also in case you are having water activities on your list, use a waterproof sunscreen for protection of your skin.

2. Follow Your Daily Routine Diligently – Every Morning begin the day by cleaning your face using A Face Wash, in case you get a lot of Acne Problem use Himalayas Neem Face Wash as that product is best for acne pimples and provide instant results. Following which use a Good Moisturizer with SPF – that will moisturise your skin all day. And Every Night, no matter how tired you are make sure you take off all your make up of your face and then only hit the bed. There are several make up removers in the market and mostly it is advised try to use only the same brand as the make up items that you use. Example, suppose you use Lakme Foundation then use Lakme Absolute Bi Phased Make Up Remover as that works well with your skin. And before going to bed make sure, you wash your Face with a Face Wash.

3. You are what you eat – Summer is the time you need to stay hydrated and for that drinking water like lots and lots of water is a must. Try to avoid fast food, fatty and oily food as that results in acne outburst. Also, during summer try and have fresh juices, fruits vegetables well that will keep you hydrated. Simultaneously try to include Vitamin C in your diet as that will keep your skin blemish free.

4. Apply Fruit Face Pack – Use a fruit pack on your face atleast weekly once. Just how eating is improves your health, applying fruit face pack rejuvenates your face. And now, thanks to companies face pack are readily available at stores. Choose one that contains more of milk as the moisturization clears excessive oil production and greasiness on your skin.

Hopefully these will be useful for your summers! If you have any more tips, ideas suggest them in comments below! Have a Fruitful Summer!

Top 7 Home Remedies To Permanently Remove Dark Circles Under Eyes

Hello My Ally,

Hope you all are doing fine. Today’s Tuesday Tip is little different then the rest for several reasons! Recently, I was interacting, with a couple of my friends and all what I noticed was most of them have dark circles. After interacting with them, I got to learn lack of proper sleep, stress, skin irritation, exposure to the sun seems to be major reasons for the same. So thinking about this, I thought the need of the hour at the moment is to write something that will solve this problem. Are you too facing a similar problem? Do you too have dark circles under your eyes.?

Well, don’t worry like it is often said with every problem there is a solution. And Hey! When I am here, what’s the fear? And I completely believe that home-made and natural remedies are the best to solve any problem.

So to get rid from the dark circles under your eyes, Here are the Top 7 tips to cure Dark Circles under Eyes

1. Milk

This ingredient is one of the most commonly found items at home. Be it for tea or coffee or just may be for chocolate drinks like Bournvita, Horlicks and so on. Milk is treated almost like a necessity at home and has multiple uses. Well, coming to my topic for the day, this item can also be used for permanently curing of your dark circles. For the remedy, all you have to do is take bowl of cold milk and cotton (make it in the shape of a ball). Dip the cotton ball in the bowl of milk and place the same on your eyes, covering the affected area completely for about 15 minutes after which the same can be washed with regular water. The same exercise has to be done for every day for almost two weeks to receive results. The idea of using the milk is, Milk is rich in lactic acid which works towards making the skin –  smooth, thick and firm, diminishing wrinkles and fine line.

2. Tomato

Another commonly found item in your kitchen – Tomato. Yes Tomato is useful because it contains lycopene, a phytochemical which protects the skin from any kind of damage. All you need to get started is a teaspoon of Tomato Juice and Lemon Juice. Mix the two in a container and apply the same on the affected area and rinse with cold water after keeping the same for about 10 minutes. This should be done atleast twice a day for approximately for two to three weeks. If you have a sensitive skin, use rose water with the mixture before applying to the affected area under your eyes.

3. Cucumber

The most commonly used products to relax. All you need a fresh cucumber to be cut in thick round slices and place the same for refridgerating for about 30 minutes. Then take two slices and place the same on the affected area covering the same properly. And Sit back and relax for next 10 minutes and wash your eyes with cold water. Do the same for two times in a day for roughly a week and see the difference yourself.

4. Coconut Oil

The next remedy is using virgin coconut oil, Pat the oil on the skin under your eyes and massage the same gently in clock and anti- clockwise motions a few times and leave the same on for a night. Repeat the same exercise every night before the bed. The best part about using this oil is that it nourishes and moisturises your skin’s health, just like it would do to your hair, this indeed reduces dark circles gradually.

5. Turmeric

Turmeric as it is known to be used in face packs and creams for their skin brightening properties. In this remedy take 1/4 Turmeric teaspoon and mix the same with 1 almond oil. Massage the same under affected area and leave the same for 20 minutes and wash the same either with water or wipe it off with a  soft tissue  for best results use it thrice a week.

6. Honey

The Perfect Skin Diet is provided by Honey. All you have to do is apply a thin layer of organic honey under the affected area and leave the same for 15 -20 minutes and the same hsa to be repeated once a day, almost every day.

7. Rose Water

All You need is Rose Water, 2 Cotton Balls. Take the same cotton balls and soak the same in the rose water and place them under your eyes and leave the same on for 15 minutes and Wash with cold water. Do the same daily for four weeks for best results.
