Chandan Caro & Ishita Colaso Shine at Goa Major Ranking TT Tournament

PONDA, GOA: Goa’s young table tennis prodigies delivered stellar performances at the 1st All Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament, held at the Ponda Sports Complex and organised by the Ponda Table Tennis Sports Club in collaboration with the Goa Table Tennis Association (GTTA).

Chandan Caro, the national gold medallist from last season, proved his mettle by winning the Boys U15 category against Dhruva Kamat in straight sets and then clinching the U19 title with a dominant 3-1 win over top seed Aaron Farias.

Matching his feat, Ishita Colaso showcased outstanding form by defeating Aarna Lotlikar 3-0 in the Girls U15 final, and then prevailing in a nail-biting U19 final against Neeza Kamat with a 3-2 victory.

The finals were attended by notable personalities including former cricketer Swapnil Asnodkar, GTTA President Sudin Verekar, Secretary Christopher Menezes, and dignitaries Shaunak Borkar, Shivanand Sawant, Shantarm Kolvekar, Vishwanath Prabhu, and Amogh Namshikar.

The event served as a crucial platform for Goa’s budding talent to gain experience, recognition, and motivation to continue pursuing excellence in table tennis. With such promising stars rising through the ranks, Goa’s sporting future in TT looks incredibly bright.

Goa’s Shailender Yadav to Represent India at 57th Asian Physique Sports Championship in Bangkok

In a proud moment for Goa’s fitness and sports community, Shailender Yadav has earned a place in Team India in the Athletic Physique category for the upcoming 57th Asian Physique Sports Championship 2025, set to be held from August 18 to 25 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Yadav secured his position following an impressive performance at the National Selection Trials organized by the Indian Body Builders Federation (IBBF). The prestigious event took place at Silver Palace Banquet & Lawns, Pune, in association with the Maharashtra Bodybuilding Association and Silver Sports Club. The trials aimed to shortlist top athletes for two major international competitions—the 57th Asian Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship and the WBPF World Bodybuilding & Physique Sports Championship.

Representing Team Goa under the banner of the Goa Bodybuilding and Fitness Association, Shailender Yadav’s performance stood out among fierce national competition. His conditioning, form, and stage presence in the Athletic Physique category impressed the panel of judges, securing him a well-deserved spot on the Indian national team.
