Over 275 specially-abled students from 30 schools across Goa participated in a drawing competition organised by Disha Charitable Trust in association with Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias, Miramar. The 24th edition of this annual event celebrated creativity, inclusion, and empowerment.
In a major step towards inclusive education, 240 special educators in Goa are being trained to implement the NIEPID-approved DISHA curriculum for children with intellectual disabilities. The initiative is part of the Sewa Pakhwada Abhiyaan and aims to introduce a standardised curriculum across special and inclusive schools in the state.
At a Ganesh idol-making workshop organised by Mapusa Kalakirti and Bal Bhavan Panaji, students of the Sanjay Centre for Special Education showcased their talent by crafting eco-friendly idols from shadu clay. Minister Subhash Phaldessai praised their creativity, and new initiatives were announced to further empower persons with disabilities in Goa.
Chetna School for Special Children has launched a dedicated Braille library to empower visually impaired students with better access to educational materials. The initiative, supported by the Directorate of Social Welfare, was inaugurated by Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral.
