5 Seconds of Summer Make Bold Comeback With “NOT OK” and New Album ‘Everyone’s a Star!’

After a long-awaited hiatus, Australian pop-rock powerhouse 5 Seconds of Summer are back in full force. The band has just released their explosive new single “NOT OK,” marking their first official group release since 2022. Alongside the track, they’ve announced their sixth studio album Everyone’s a Star!, set to arrive on November 14 via their new label, Republic Records.

Known for their genre-blending sound and electric performances, 5SOS — comprised of Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood, and Ashton Irwin — return with music that reflects their growth as individuals and as a band. “NOT OK” is a dark yet anthemic track that taps into emotional vulnerability and inner chaos, wrapped in the band’s signature high-energy style.

The lyrics — “Hey, I’m not okay / I like the darker side of me…” — reveal a raw self-awareness, with Hemmings describing it as a song that celebrates all parts of oneself, even the ones we often hide.

This release comes after years of solo pursuits by each member. Ashton Irwin launched his solo career in 2020 with Superbloom and followed up with Blood on the Drums in 2024. Luke Hemmings shared his introspective debut When Facing the Things We Turn Away From in 2021, followed by the Boy EP in 2024. Calum Hood dropped his debut solo album ORDER chaos ORDER in early 2025, and Michael Clifford released Sidequest that same year.

The new album Everyone’s a Star! aims to merge that individual experience into a unified sound. “This band is made of four people who could all have their own solo albums… [but this] embodies all of that,” Hemmings said in a statement. “We were teenagers at the beginning of 5 Seconds of Summer… I think this record has more of our original spirit — but with 15 years of wisdom and a dash of reckless abandon.”

The album includes 12 tracks, including the already released “NOT OK” and others like “Telephone Busy,” “Boyband,” and “Ghost.”

To celebrate the release, the band held a free pop-up show at The Sun Rose in West Hollywood, streamed live on TikTok. They performed classics like “Youngblood,” “She Looks So Perfect,” and “Teeth,” while debuting new material from the upcoming album.

Everyone’s a Star! is shaping up to be a defining chapter in 5SOS’s legacy — one that honors their roots while pushing boldly into new territory.

What Inspired Taylor Swift’s New Studio Album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’?

August 23, 2025 – Los Angeles – Pop sensation and billionaire singer-songwriter Taylor Swift is stepping into her boldest, most theatrical era yet with the announcement of her new studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.

The album, containing only 12 tracks, draws deep inspiration from the glitzy world of 1920s Parisian cabarets like Moulin Rouge and Folies Bergère, as well as iconic Broadway revues like the Ziegfeld Follies. Swift paints a musical picture filled with emotional highs and lows, saying on the Parade Podcast,

“I felt vibrant… but I also had low, dramatic moments. It’s about all of that.”

Known for her storytelling, Swift calls this new record a “puzzle of a project”—with no bonus tracks or hidden additions—intended to stand as a complete, cohesive piece of art.

The visual and performance aesthetic for The Life of a Showgirl promises vintage glamour, with ostrich feathers, rhinestone-studded costumes, and show-stopping stage elements that channel a bygone era of entertainment.

Since signing with Republic Records in 2018, Taylor has continued to push musical and creative boundaries. From her Eras Tour breaking global records to her Forbes ranking as one of the highest-paid entertainers (reportedly grossing USD 160 crores in 2023), this album is yet another leap into reinvention.

As Swift fans—aka Swifties—eagerly await the official release date, one thing is certain: Taylor Swift’s show is far from over. And the showgirl is just getting started.
