Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has achieved another milestone in its record-breaking theatrical run. The spy thriller has now become the longest-trending Indian film on BookMyShow, maintaining its position on the platform for 59 consecutive days.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, the film surpassed the previous record of 58 days set earlier in 2025 by Chhaava, starring Vicky Kaushal. Horror-comedy sequel Stree 2 currently stands third with 57 days of trending.

Over the years, longevity on BookMyShow has emerged as a key metric for box office endurance, with estimates suggesting that nearly half of a film’s ticket sales are generated through the platform. Dhurandhar’s sustained popularity has been attributed largely to strong word of mouth, enabling it to dominate the box office for weeks after release.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar also features Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles. The film has grossed ₹1300 crore worldwide, including over ₹800 crore in India — the highest domestic total for a Hindi film to date.

The film recorded the biggest second week for any Indian release, collecting ₹253 crore, followed by strong third, fourth, and fifth-week performances. Even after its OTT release eight weeks into its theatrical run, Dhurandhar reportedly continued earning ₹25–30 lakh per day domestically and remains in cinemas ten weeks after release.

A sequel, titled Dhurandhar: The Revenge, is slated to release on March 19, with the principal cast set to reprise their roles.

With its extended theatrical dominance and sustained audience engagement, Dhurandhar has cemented its position as one of the most successful Indian films in recent years.

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar Set for OTT Release After ₹110 Billion-Plus Box Office Triumph

Written by Tanisha Cardozo || Team Allycaral

Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar, one of the most talked-about Bollywood releases of the year, is finally making its way to OTT after an extraordinary theatrical run that reportedly crossed ₹110 billion worldwide. The film, which turned into a social media phenomenon and a box office juggernaut, is expected to stream on Netflix from January 30, 2026, offering audiences another chance to experience its gripping narrative.

In the film, Ranveer Singh appears in a rugged avatar with scruffy long hair and a beard, portraying an undercover Indian agent leading Mission Dhurandhar. Tasked with dismantling the terror network of Rehman Dakait operating out of Lyari, Karachi, his character navigates a world of high-risk espionage, brutal confrontations, and strategic mind games. The storyline draws loose inspiration from real-life events such as the Parliament attack and the IC-814 hijacking, adding layers of intensity and realism to the cinematic experience.

Written and directed by Aditya Dhar, the film boasts a powerful ensemble cast. Akshaye Khanna delivers a much-discussed performance as the antagonist, with his screen presence and signature moves going viral across platforms. Supporting roles by Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan further elevate the film’s dramatic weight and emotional depth.

Beyond its action set pieces and stylised storytelling, Dhurandhar captured attention for its soundtrack, memorable scenes, and Ranveer Singh’s commanding transformation. The film currently holds an impressive IMDb rating of 8.6 out of 10 and reportedly earned more than five times its original production budget, cementing its status as a commercial and critical success.

The movie did not receive a theatrical release in Pakistan, the UAE, or other GCC countries and is unlikely to be available on OTT platforms in those regions. However, audiences in India and select international markets will now be able to stream the film as it arrives digitally at the end of January, extending the life of a film that already left a strong mark on Indian cinema.

Ranveer Singh issues apology after Kantara mimicry backlash

Written by Tanisha Cardozo || Team Allycaral

Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has publicly apologised after igniting a firestorm of criticism for his mimicry of a sacred scene from the film Kantara – Chapter 1 at the closing ceremony of IFFI 2025 in Goa. The controversy erupted when Singh re-performed the film’s climactic “Daiva” scene — referring to the revered deity as a “female ghost” and mimicking the ritualistic expression on stage. What may have been intended as a tribute to Rishab Shetty’s intense performance instead struck a chord with many viewers as culturally insensitive and disrespectful.

In a post on his Instagram story, Singh clarified that his only intention was to highlight and appreciate Rishab Shetty’s exceptional acting. “Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene the way he did, for which he has my utmost admiration,” he wrote. He further stressed that he has “always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country.” He concluded by offering a heartfelt apology to anyone whose sentiments may have been hurt.

The backlash gained momentum after clips of the performance circulated widely on social media, with many condemning the imitation as dismissive of the spiritual and cultural significance of the “Daiva” tradition depicted in the film. A formal complaint was reportedly filed by a religious group, adding to the controversy. The incident — coming just days before the release of Singh’s next film — has brought renewed focus on the sensitivity required when engaging with regional cultural narratives.
