RC Goa, Sun Estate Warriors Register First Wins in PGML 5.0 at Panaji Gymkhana

RC Goa and Sun Estate Warriors registered their first victories of the tournament on Sunday in the ongoing PGML 5.0, organised by the Panaji Gymkhana at the Campal ground in Panaji.

In the morning match, RC Goa put up a dominant performance against Priority Titans. After winning the toss, Priority Titans elected to bat first and posted 106 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Rijul Pathak top-scored with 34 runs, while Heramb Shankar Parab contributed 22. RC Goaโ€™s bowling unit shared wickets evenly, with Gauresh Khandepakar and Dattesh Priolkar claiming two wickets each.

Chasing a modest target, RC Goa reached 111 for 4 in just 10.5 overs. Skipper Rajshekhar Harikant stole the spotlight with a blistering unbeaten 55 off just 19 balls, smashing seven sixes and a boundary. His match-winning knock earned him the Man of the Match award, presented by chief guest Rajesh Dempo in the presence of Manish Karapurkar and Amit Nachinolkar.

The second match of the day saw Sun Estate Warriors take on Baale Tigers in another low-scoring contest. Baale Tigers opted to bat first after winning the toss but were restricted to 115 runs in 19 overs. Samar Dubhashi remained unbeaten on 37, while Dhiraj Phadte added 33. Sun Estate Warriors bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Balkrishna Hodarkar and Manish Kakode picking up two wickets each.

Sun Estate Warriors chased down the target comfortably, scoring 116 for 5 in 15 overs. Abhijit Bhandare top-scored with 51 runs off 30 balls, striking five fours and two sixes, while Mithun Govekar added a valuable 35 before retiring out. Bhandare was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by chief guest Harshvardhan Bhatkuly in the presence of Girish Parekh.

Both teams had suffered defeats in their opening matches, making Sundayโ€™s victories an important boost as the PGML 5.0 tournament continues to deliver exciting local cricket action.

Manas Mavericks, Priority Titans Open PGML 5.0 With Emphatic Wins

The fifth edition of the Panjim Gymkhana Members League (PGML 5.0) commenced on Saturday at the Panjim Gymkhana ground, Campal, Panaji, with Manas Mavericks and Priority Titans registering convincing victories in their opening matches. The much-anticipated T20 tournament began with great enthusiasm, drawing players, officials and cricket enthusiasts in large numbers.

Earlier in the day, PGML 5.0 was formally inaugurated at the venue. The ceremony began with the toss involving team captains, umpires and the match referee, followed by a formal gathering attended by the Panjim Gymkhana President, team owners, captains, Managing Committee and Governing Council members, along with the Chief Guest. Panjim Gymkhana President Manoj Caculo welcomed the gathering, after which the Chief Guest, Goa Cricket Association President Mahesh Dessai, officially declared the tournament open by releasing balloons along with the team owners. The ceremony also featured an address by the Chief Guest, presentation of a memento and the playing of the National Anthem. GCA Secretary Tulsidas Shetye was present as the Guest of Honour.

During the function, several dignitaries were felicitated for their contributions to the sport. Rajesh Khaunte presented a memento to Mahesh Dessai, Suresh Mahadevan felicitated Tulsidas Shetye, Sarfaraz Sheikh honoured Prasad Shirsat of Golden Goa, while Manish Karapurkar felicitated Amit and Mary from Majestic, the tournament sponsors. In his address, Mahesh Dessai expressed special appreciation for Anil Pai Angle and Sandeep Naik for their guidance and continued contribution to cricket.

The cricketing action began with the opening match between Manas Mavericks and Dempo Challengers. Manas Mavericks delivered a dominant performance, posting a massive 220 for 6 in their allotted 20 overs, powered by a half-century from Vijay Nagarajan and valuable contributions from Avishkar Mone, Om Phadte and Mihir Gawde. In reply, Dempo Challengers were restricted to 132 for 9, as the Manas Mavericks bowlers shared the wickets to secure an emphatic 88-run victory.

In the second match of the day, Priority Titans continued the trend of dominant performances, scoring 198 for 5 against Sun Estate Warriors. Adeep Prabhu Miskin top-scored with a well-crafted half-century, while Jaipal Mada and Heramb Shankar Parab added crucial runs. Sun Estate Warriors were bowled out for 134 in 16.4 overs, handing Priority Titans a convincing 64-run win.

With the successful start of PGML 5.0, cricket fans can look forward to several weeks of high-quality T20 action, competitive performances and growing excitement at the Panjim Gymkhana ground.

CD Margao Mega Strikers Storm into Finals, Priority Titans Face Madgaon Royals in Eliminator 2


Margao: The Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust in association with Goa Saraswat Samaj, saw high-intensity clashes over the weekend at MCC Ground, Margao.

CD Margao Mega Strikers booked their spot in the grand finale after a dramatic Super Over victory against Priority Titans in Qualifier 1 on Saturday. Meanwhile, Madgaon Royals secured a dominant 8-wicket win over Canacona Mathagram United in the Eliminator, keeping their title hopes alive.

With this result, Madgaon Royals will now face Priority Titans in Eliminator 2 on March 2. The winner of this crucial clash will battle CD Margao Mega Strikers under floodlights in the grand finale on March 8.

Qualifier 1: Super Over Thriller

Batting first, CD Margao Mega Strikers posted 129 all out in 19.5 overs, with Aditya Prabhugaonkar (32)* and Animesh Prabhugaonkar (23) making key contributions. Priority Titans matched the total, scoring 129/9 in 20 overs, leading to a Super Over to decide the winner.

In the Super Over, Priority Titans managed 9/1, but CD Margao Mega Strikers chased the target in just 4 balls, scoring 11/1, sealing their place in the final.

Eliminator: Madgaon Royals Cruise to Victory

Batting first, Canacona Mathagram United struggled, managing 135/9 in 20 overs. In response, Madgaon Royals comfortably chased down the target in just 13.5 overs, scoring 137/2, thanks to stellar performances by Sanat Prabhudesai (38), Damodar Pai Patnekar (37), and Aditya Dalal (30).*

Margao: The Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust in collaboration with Goa Saraswat Samaj, saw thrilling encounters at the MCC Ground in Margao. While Mapusa Dream Crushers wrapped up their campaign with a resounding 90-run victory over Rising Stars of Antruz, the clash had little impact on the tournament, as both teams were already out of the race for the โ€˜Final Four.โ€™

In the second match of the day, Priority Titans edged past CD Margao Mega Strikers by 3 wickets, ensuring they finished at the top of the standings. With this win, Priority Titans and CD Margao Mega Strikers will now face each other again in Qualifier 1.

In the opening match, Mapusa Dream Crushers put up a massive total of 224 all out in 20 overs. Their top order fired in unison, with Rajaram Kundaikar leading the charge with a quickfire 38 off 23 balls. In response, Rising Stars of Antruz struggled, managing only 134/8 in 17 overs. Kundaikarโ€™s all-round contribution earned him the Man of the Match award.

In the second fixture, CD Margao Mega Strikers set a target of 136, scoring 135/9 in their allotted 20 overs. MARGAO: Priority Titans continued their dominant run in the Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust in collaboration with Goa Saraswat Samaj, securing their fifth victory by defeating Madgaon Royals by four wickets under the lights on Thursday.

Winning the toss, Priority Titans opted to bowl first. Despite resistance from Damodar Pai Patnekar (36) and Kartik Hattangadi (32 off 17 balls), Madgaon Royals struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 132 runs in 19.5 overs. Titansโ€™ bowlers Smitesh Divekar (2/7), Manish Kakode (2/12), and Vikrant Prabhu (2/22) ensured a disciplined attack.

In response, Priority Titans chased down the target in 19.1 overs, with Samar Dubhashi (36), Sachin Sardesai (26), Anish Mahambre (22), and Siddharth Ghanekar (unbeaten 20) guiding the team home. Manish Kakode, for his stellar bowling performance, was named Man of the Match.
