In a landmark move ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi 2025, the Bombay High Court has directed that all Ganesh idols — including those made of Plaster of Paris (PoP) and up to 6 feet in height — must be immersed in artificial tanks. The ruling, effective from August 27, 2025, aims to reduce ecological harm and will apply to all festivals requiring idol immersion until March 2026.
