X Admits Lapse in India, Removes 3,500 Grok Posts and Deletes 600 Accounts Over Objectionable Content

Written by Tanisha Cardozo || Team Allycaral

Microblogging platform X has acknowledged lapses in handling objectionable content generated by its AI chatbot Grok, leading to the removal of approximately 3,500 posts and the deletion of over 600 accounts in India. The action came about a week after the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology raised serious concerns over obscene and sexually explicit content linked to the AI tool.

Officials aware of the development said the company accepted its mistake and committed to complying with Indian laws. According to a communication shared with authorities, X assured that it would not allow obscene imagery going forward. However, neither MeitY nor X issued an official public statement detailing the timeline or scope of the action taken.

Grok, developed by Elon Musk’s xAI and integrated into X, has faced intense scrutiny globally after users exploited its image-generation and editing capabilities to create non-consensual and sexualised deepfake images, including those involving women and minors. These images spread rapidly on the platform, prompting investigations by regulators in multiple countries. Indonesia has already suspended access to Grok, while authorities in the European Union and the UK have launched probes into the tool’s safeguards.

MeitY formally wrote to X on January 2, flagging what it described as serious failures in preventing obscene content generated using Grok. The ministry warned that continued non-compliance could result in X losing its safe harbour protection under Section 79 of the Information Technology Act. X sought an extension to respond, citing the Christmas and New Year holidays, with the deadline set for January 7.

Officials indicated that the ministry was dissatisfied with X’s initial response, which largely reiterated existing user policies without detailing concrete enforcement actions. This prompted MeitY to seek a more detailed report outlining specific steps taken against offending content and accounts. The government also clarified that Grok would be treated as a content creator rather than merely a platform tool, a classification that could significantly impact intermediary liability.

The ministry noted that misuse of Grok was not limited to fake accounts but also targeted women who uploaded their own photos or videos, which were then manipulated using AI prompts. The letter cited violations under multiple Indian laws, including provisions of the IT Act, the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

X was directed to comprehensively review Grok’s prompt processing, output generation, image handling and safety guardrails, and to enforce strong deterrent measures such as account suspensions and terminations. MeitY officials have stated that compliance by X and other platforms will continue to be closely monitored, warning that any recurrence of violations could invite stricter action.

The controversy has also drawn political attention, with Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi accusing X of monetising harmful behaviour after restricting Grok’s image-generation feature to paid users. The episode underscores growing global concerns around AI-generated content, especially as reports indicate a sharp rise in AI-generated abuse imagery worldwide, intensifying calls for stricter regulation and accountability.

Vedanta Sesa Goa Empowers Over 1 Lakh Youth Through Skilling, Education and Sports

Written by Tanisha Cardozo || Team Allycaral

National Youth Day, celebrated every year on January 12, honours the potential of young minds to drive positive change. The theme for 2025, “Ignite the self, impact the world,” resonates strongly with Vedanta Sesa Goa’s sustained efforts in youth empowerment. Since 2018, the company has impacted over one lakh youth through initiatives spanning skilling, education, sports and digital learning.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Navin Jaju, CEO, Vedanta Sesa Goa, emphasised the organisation’s focus on enabling young minds through education and skill development. He highlighted that initiatives such as the Sesa Football Academy, Sesa Technical School, and digital education and scholarship programmes have played a critical role in building an empowered and enabled society, while contributing to the larger vision of a Viksit Bharat.

Among Vedanta Sesa Goa’s flagship initiatives is the Sesa Football Academy, which since 1999 has nurtured the footballing aspirations of over 8,000 players. More than 230 players have benefitted directly from its residential programme, with 14 players, including boys and girls, representing India at the international level. The Academy’s senior women’s team currently represents Goa at the Indian Women’s League, while the senior men’s team continues to perform strongly in the Goa Premier League.

Reflecting on this impact, Aaroshi Govekar, a player at the Sesa Football Academy and a recent selection for the Indian football team, described wearing the Indian jersey as a dream come true. She credited the Academy for providing not just training, but discipline, exposure and confidence to compete at the highest level.

Another cornerstone of Vedanta Sesa Goa’s youth development efforts is the Sesa Technical School, established in 1994. The institute has provided industry-ready technical training to over 2,000 youth, particularly from rural and mining belts of Goa. Affiliated with NCVT and ITI, the school offers courses across five trades and maintains a near 100 percent placement record, with graduates employed by leading organisations across sectors. Special focus is placed on encouraging girls through scholarships and dedicated training programmes.

Alumnus and entrepreneur Laxman Dalvi shared that the school gave him more than technical skills—it instilled confidence, discipline and direction, enabling him to build a self-reliant future.

Under Project Vriddhi, Vedanta Sesa Goa has also strengthened access to education and digital learning by establishing Vedanta Computer Centres and Labs across multiple states. Since 2018, these initiatives have benefitted over 80,000 students and youth, helping bridge the digital divide and build essential skills for the modern workforce.

Complementing these efforts is the Vedanta Utkarsh Scholarship Programme, which has supported over 1,300 students in pursuing higher education, with 50 percent of scholarships reserved for meritorious girls. Beneficiaries like Leela Parab from Mulgao credit the programme for helping them move closer to their aspirations and contribute positively to society.

Together, these initiatives embody the spirit of National Youth Day by equipping young people with skills, confidence and opportunities to shape their own futures. As Vedanta Sesa Goa continues its mission of transforming communities, youth empowerment remains at the heart of its journey toward inclusive and sustainable progress.

Written by Tanisha Cardozo || Team Allycaral

Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2025 concluded its latest edition with a series of spectacular showcases across Gurugram, Jaipur, and Kolkata, setting a new benchmark for immersive fashion experiences in India. Guided by its philosophy of creating ‘The One and Only’ stage, the tour presented three distinct narratives that reimagined how fashion is experienced, celebrated, and shaped for the future.

Each city brought a unique vision to life. In Gurugram, fashion was propelled into the future with ‘The Futureverse of Fashion’, curated by designers Falguni and Shane Peacock. The showcase merged haute couture with humanoid robots, holographic technology, and motion-sensing projections, creating a real-time dialogue between fashion and technology. Actors Shahid Kapoor and Tamannaah Bhatia added star power to the futuristic spectacle.

Jaipur took fashion onto the fast lane with ‘High Octane Couture’, where designers Namrata Joshipura and Abhishek Patni drew inspiration from motorsport aesthetics. The show featured chrome-wrapped supercars, a dynamic three-lap runway experience, and appearances by Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu and rapper Raftaar, delivering a high-energy fusion of speed, performance, and style.

The tour culminated in Kolkata with ‘Future Is Crafted’, a bold narrative by AK | OK Anamika Khanna that challenged traditional ideas of craft. Set against the iconic Howrah Bridge, the showcase deconstructed heritage techniques through futuristic tailoring. With Ishaan Khatter as showstopper, the Hooghly River was transformed into a floating theatre, offering a powerful reinterpretation of craft in a contemporary context.

Reflecting on the tour, Debasree Dasgupta, CMO, Pernod Ricard India, said that Blenders Pride Fashion Tour, powered by FDCI, continues to be Indian fashion’s most iconic platform. She noted that the ‘Making Fashion Move’ vision reinforces the brand’s role in shaping the future of fashion through innovation, collaboration, and immersive experiences.

Sunil Sethi, Chairman of FDCI, highlighted the collaboration as a coming together of two fashion powerhouses committed to celebrating creativity, culture, and the evolving design landscape in India.

With an audience of over 2,100 attendees across three cities — including designers, celebrities, influencers, fashion leaders, and media — Blenders Pride Fashion Tour 2025 reinforced its stature as a cultural destination that drives fashion forward. As the tour concludes, it leaves behind more than spectacular showcases; it establishes a bold perspective that fashion doesn’t wait to be led — it moves ahead with Blenders Pride Fashion Tour.

Written by Tanisha Cardozo || Team Allycaral

Goa is set to witness a landmark moment for India’s creative industries with the launch of Transcend Goa 2026, the country’s first-ever Transmedia Conclave. Organised by the Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG) and Goa Future Proof, with support from the Government of Goa, the pilot edition will be held on January 15 and 16, 2026, at the historic Marquinez Palace in Panjim.

Envisioned as a future-facing platform by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant, Transcend Goa 2026 aims to bring together leading creative minds from cinema, publishing, gaming, and artificial intelligence to explore how storytelling can evolve beyond a single medium. The conclave seeks to spark conversations around building Indian-origin transmedia intellectual properties and taking cinema beyond the screen into immersive, multi-platform experiences.

At its core, the conclave is designed to converge stakeholders across industries and spotlight case studies that demonstrate how Indian content can successfully transition across formats — from books and films to games, digital worlds, and emerging technologies. The initiative also places a strong focus on championing homegrown content and enabling Indian stories to reach global audiences through collaboration and innovation.

The two-day conclave will feature keynote sessions, panel discussions, and in-depth case studies led by an influential lineup of speakers. These include Sajan Raj Kurup, Chairman of Creativeland Asia Group; producer Monisha Advani; filmmakers Raja Krishna Menon, Om Raut, and Q; along with industry veterans Afsar Zaidi and Caleb Franklin. Special presentations will also be delivered by Vipul Agrawal, founder of India’s leading AI-driven content company; Vignesh Raja, co-founder of A.R. Rahman’s META project; and renowned transmedia specialist Jean Pierre Magro, among others.

Speaking about the vision behind the conclave, Harish Rao, organiser of Transcend Goa 2026, said that Indian stories have always had the power to transcend cultures. He noted that the conclave aims to create a collaborative platform where creators, technologists, and industry leaders can collectively reimagine how stories are told, experienced, and scaled globally across multiple formats.

With plans to evolve into a larger, more forward-focused platform in the years ahead, Transcend Goa has been crafted to place Goa firmly on the global creative economy map. Registrations for Transcend Goa 2026 are now open.
