The National Testing Agency (NTA) has commenced the online application process for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) UG 2026 on Saturday. The examination is conducted for admission to MBBS, BDS and other undergraduate medical courses across medical institutions in India.

Eligible candidates can submit their applications through the official website, neet.nta.nic.in, until March 8. The application fee for candidates in the general category within India has been fixed at ₹1,700. The entrance examination is scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026.

This year, NTA has introduced enhanced security features to ensure greater transparency and curb impersonation. The application process now includes Aadhaar-based eKYC verification and live photo capture during registration to authenticate candidates’ identities.

As per eligibility criteria, candidates must be at least 17 years of age by the end of 2026 and should have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as core subjects, securing a minimum of 50 per cent marks for general category applicants.

NTA has also announced a correction window from March 10 to March 12, allowing applicants to edit certain details in their submitted forms. Candidates have been advised to complete the registration process well in advance to avoid last-minute technical issues.
