The Annual Training Camp of the 1 Goa Naval Unit NCC is currently underway at the Multipurpose Sports Stadium in Pernem, bringing together around 500 NCC cadets from 25 educational institutions across Goa. The camp is being conducted under the command of Capt. Sumeet Sinha, Commanding Officer of the unit, and serves as a key platform for holistic cadet development.

Designed in keeping with the ethos of the National Cadet Corps, the camp focuses on enhancing physical fitness, mental alertness, social awareness, and a strong sense of unity and camaraderie among participants. Cadets from diverse institutions train together, fostering teamwork, discipline, and mutual respect.

The training programme includes a range of activities aimed at developing leadership and overall personality. Cadets undergo weapon handling sessions, boat pulling practice on simulators, semaphore training, and attend lectures on various service-related subjects that build awareness of defence forces and national service.

The smooth conduct of the camp has been made possible with the active support of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Goa, whose logistical assistance has played a crucial role. Camp administration is being efficiently managed by a dedicated team comprising Permanent Instructional staff, State Government staff, and Associate NCC Officers.

Through structured training and shared experiences, the Annual Training Camp continues to shape young cadets into disciplined, confident, and socially responsible citizens, reinforcing the NCCโ€™s commitment to nation-building and youth empowerment.

Goa University & 1 Goa Battalion NCC Celebrate Rakshabandhan with Poetic Tribute and Leadership Felicitation

Porvorim, Goa | August, 2025
In a heartfelt and culturally rich celebration of Rakshabandhan, the Discipline of Marathi under the School of Languages and Literature (SGSLL) at Goa University, in collaboration with the 1 Goa Battalion of the NCC, hosted a special event titled:

(Rakshabandhan: A Poetic Salute to Indian Warriors and Honour of Leadership)

Held on Independence Day, the event created a confluence of language, emotion, and patriotism, serving both as a celebration of sibling bonds and a tribute to those who protect the nation.

A Unique Tribute Through Words

This programme stood apart by blending Kavya (poetry) with Samman (honour). Eminent Marathi poets, students, and NCC cadets recited verses dedicated to the sacrifices and strength of Indiaโ€™s armed forces. It was a literary salute wrapped in emotion and pride.

Honouring Leadership & Bravery

Besides poetic performances, the event featured felicitations for leaders in the armed forces and within the university/NCC ecosystem who exemplify commitment, discipline, and service to the nation.

Bringing Together Campus & Corps

The collaboration between Goa University and the 1 Goa Battalion NCC is part of a broader vision to embed civic and cultural values in academic life. By involving students in such meaningful programmes, it fosters deeper understanding and respect for national service.

Moving Forward

Both institutions aim to make this celebration an annual tradition, where poetry becomes a medium to express gratitude, pride, and patriotism โ€” and Rakshabandhan becomes more than a festival, but a day of national appreciation.
