Margao: The Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust in association with Goa Saraswat Samaj, saw high-intensity clashes over the weekend at MCC Ground, Margao.

CD Margao Mega Strikers booked their spot in the grand finale after a dramatic Super Over victory against Priority Titans in Qualifier 1 on Saturday. Meanwhile, Madgaon Royals secured a dominant 8-wicket win over Canacona Mathagram United in the Eliminator, keeping their title hopes alive.

With this result, Madgaon Royals will now face Priority Titans in Eliminator 2 on March 2. The winner of this crucial clash will battle CD Margao Mega Strikers under floodlights in the grand finale on March 8.

Qualifier 1: Super Over Thriller

Batting first, CD Margao Mega Strikers posted 129 all out in 19.5 overs, with Aditya Prabhugaonkar (32)* and Animesh Prabhugaonkar (23) making key contributions. Priority Titans matched the total, scoring 129/9 in 20 overs, leading to a Super Over to decide the winner.

MARGAO: The Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 cricket tournament, organized by Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust in association with Goa Saraswat Samaj, witnessed thrilling encounters on Saturday at the MCC Ground, Margao. Canacona Mathagram United and Madgaon Royals registered emphatic wins to strengthen their positions in the tournament.

In the opening match, Canacona Mathagram United outclassed Laziz CQS by six wickets. Laziz CQS posted 114 runs in 18 overs, with Sarvesh Prabhugaonkar (40) leading the batting effort. However, Unitedโ€™s bowling attack, spearheaded by Man of the Match Vrushab Kuncolienkar (3/16), restricted them effectively. In response, United chased down the target in just 13.5 overs, scoring 118/4, courtesy of crucial knocks from Sahil Mandrekar (36), Sumiran Amonkar (31), and Sukrut Pai (22).

In the second encounter, Madgaon Royals crushed SinQ Rangers by a massive 103-run margin. Royals set an imposing target of 201/9 in 20 overs, powered by aggressive innings from Kaushal Hattangadi (40 off 19 balls) and Granthik Buyao (39 off 14 balls). Winning the toss, Priority Titans opted to bowl first. Despite resistance from Damodar Pai Patnekar (36) and Kartik Hattangadi (32 off 17 balls), Madgaon Royals struggled to build momentum and were bowled out for 132 runs in 19.5 overs. Titansโ€™ bowlers Smitesh Divekar (2/7), Manish Kakode (2/12), and Vikrant Prabhu (2/22) ensured a disciplined attack.

Batting first after losing the toss, Madgaon Royals posted a strong total of 179/7 in 20 overs. Arsh Sardesai (40 off 23 balls), Sanat Prabhudesai (38 off 24), and Aditya Dalal (35 off 21) powered their innings with crucial contributions. Pranav Kamat (2/10) and Vrushab Kuncolienkar (2/32) were the pick of the bowlers for Canacona Mathagram United.

In response, Canacona Mathagram United fell short, getting bowled out for 120 in 15.1 overs. Their top scorers were Amey Rajadhyax (30 off 26), Viraj Puranik (24 off 12), and Sumiran Amonkar (19 off 11).
