Tridents & Strikers Dominate in GSB Unity Cup Thriller


Margao witnessed an action-packed day of cricket as the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 delivered thrilling encounters at the MCC Ground, with K.K. Strikers and Shamrao Tridents emerging victorious in their respective matches.

In the morning clash, K.K. Strikers put up an imposing total of 205 for 9 in 20 overs. Opener Viraj Puranik led the charge with a blistering 55 off just 24 balls, laced with boundaries, while Rauji Kakodkar’s unbeaten 44 off 20 balls powered the innings past the 200-run mark. Ramnath Prabhu Bam also chipped in with a valuable 37. For Dempo Challengers, Shridhar Keni stood out with the ball, claiming three wickets.

Chasing a daunting target, Dempo Challengers showed glimpses of resistance through captain Samar Dubhashi (55), Tunish Sawkar (32), and Vibhav Pai (34). However, regular wickets and a lack of support from the lower order saw them fall short at 173. Rasik Pai Khot turned the game with a match-winning spell of 4 for 22, sealing a 32-run victory for the Strikers.

The second match proved to be a tighter contest, with Shamrao Tridents defending a modest total of 150 for 9. Deval Karmali’s impressive 53 and Siddhant Kunde’s steady unbeaten 37 anchored the innings, despite regular wickets. Rising Stars of Ponda bowlers Tanmay Sukhthankar and Shaunit Sawardekar kept things in check with three wickets each.

In response, Rising Stars struggled early but fought back through Ved Mahambre’s 50 and captain Prasheel Kamat’s 34. However, disciplined bowling from the Tridents, led by Kritin Bhangui’s 3 for 18, ensured they were bowled out for 135, handing Tridents a 15-run win.

Rasik Pai Khot was named Desserts N More Player of the Match, while Viraj Puranik received the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match award in the first game. In the second match, Siddhant Kunde and Deval Karmali were recognised for their standout performances.

With strong performances and competitive spirit on display, the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 continues to celebrate grassroots cricket and emerging talent in Goa.

MCC Knights Register Thumping Win Over MCC Warriors

MCC Knights produced a dominant all-round performance to register a convincing victory over MCC Warriors in the ongoing MCL 11 T20 tournament match played at the MCC Ground, Margao. Batting first, MCC Warriors were restricted to 125 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs. Anoop Borkar top-scored with 36 runs, while Vasudev Kundaiker contributed 35. Sudip Faldesai remained unbeaten on 19. The MCC Knights bowling attack was impressive, with Vipul Kalekar picking up 2 for 28, Vinay Sambari returning figures of 2 for 19, and Shaunit Sawardekar claiming 2 for 14.

In reply, MCC Knights chased down the target in emphatic fashion, scoring 126 for 4 in just 9.4 overs. Ameet Kakode played a brisk knock of 37, Kapil D.S. Borker hammered 38, and Sairaj Dhond added 23. Pranav Biche remained not out on 23 to guide the team home comfortably. For MCC Warriors, Rajesh Kavlekar took 1 for 12, while Govind Lotlikar picked up 1 for 41.

Shaunit Sawardekar was adjudged Man of the Match for his impactful bowling performance and was presented the award by Nitish Naik. With this massive victory, MCC Knights strengthened their net run rate and moved to third place on the points table with eight points, underlining their strong form in the tournament.

MCC Royals and MCC Masters Seal Dominant Wins in Exciting T20 Clashes at Margao

The MCC 11 T20 cricket tournament at the MCC Ground in Margao delivered two gripping encounters as MCC Royals and MCC Masters emerged victorious with confident performances. In the first match, MCC Royals set a competitive total of 169/8 in their 20 overs, with valuable contributions from Samrudh Bharne, who played a steady innings of 34, Vijay who added 27, and Siddhit Raiturkar who top-scored with 37.

For MCC Knights, Dinesh Pai showcased excellent bowling form with figures of 3/16, while Vikram Gaitonde supported well with 2/25. In response, MCC Knights fought hard but were bowled out for 146 in 18.5 overs. Ameet Kakode scored 30, Kapil D.S. Borker struck 35, and Siddharth Ghanekar added 38, but their efforts fell short as the Royals’ bowlers held their nerve. Aditya Prabhugaonkar led the charge with an impressive 3/13 and was deservedly named Man of the Match, while Chirag Naik and Shailesh Redkar claimed two wickets each to seal the 23-run victory.

The afternoon match provided more excitement as MCC Warriors posted 149/8 in their 20 overs, driven by solid batting contributions from Govind Lotlikar with 35, Vasudev Kundaiker with 37, and a crucial 40 from Vikas Shetty. MCC Masters’ bowling unit kept things under control with Dr. Satyesh Kamat delivering an economical spell of 2/7 and Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar picking up 2/32. Chasing 150, MCC Masters paced their innings well, reaching 150/6 in 17.4 overs. Vishwesh Kamat anchored the chase with 35 runs, Sudhir Kenkre added an important 31, and Vikrant Prabhu’s composed 35 proved essential in guiding the team home. For Warriors, Raghuvir Kuncolienkar took 2/44 while Lotlikar and Shetty picked up a wicket each. Vikrant Prabhu’s impactful knock earned him the Man of the Match award. The day concluded with both MCC Royals and MCC Masters firmly establishing their dominance in the tournament with clinical and well-rounded performances.
