Laziz CQS Ends Campaign on a High Note


Margao: Laziz CQS wrapped up their Alcon GSB Unity Cup T-20 campaign with a commanding 68-run victory over Rising Stars of Antruz in their final league match, played under floodlights at MCC Ground, Margao, on Thursday evening.

Batting first, Laziz CQS posted an imposing total of 209 runs in 19.5 overs, led by contributions from Vidheya Kossambe (36), Varun Kudchadkar (35), Nikhil Virginkar (35), and Deval Karmali (33). In response, Rising Stars of Antruz struggled to keep up with the required run rate and managed 141/9 in 20 overs, with Paarth Kossambe (36) and Vaibhav Nagarsenkar (22) being the top scorers.

Sarvesh Sinari, who delivered a match-winning spell of 3/19, was named ‘Man of the Match’. Despite the win, Laziz CQS had already exited the tournament, while Antruz ended their campaign without securing a single victory.

Margao: The Alcon GSB Unity Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, organized by the Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust in collaboration with Goa Saraswat Samaj, witnessed two thrilling encounters on Saturday at the MCC Ground in Margao. Laziz CQS and CD Margao Mega Strikers registered hard-fought victories in their respective matches.

In the first match, Laziz CQS edged past Madgaon Royals by two wickets in a last-ball thriller. Chasing a challenging target of 154, Laziz CQS found themselves in trouble at 105/7, but a stellar knock from Sarvesh Prabhugaonkar (35* off 15 balls) and a crucial contribution from Rauji Kakodkar (34 off 21 balls) steered them to victory. Earlier, Madgaon Royals had posted 153/5, with Sanat Prabhudessai (40), Damodar Pai Patnekar (36), and Sahish Mahambrey (35 off 20) leading the charge. Sarvesh Prabhugaonkar was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning effort.

In the second match, CD Margao Mega Strikers outclassed Mapusa Dream Crushers UC by five wickets. Opting to bat first, Mapusa Dream Crushers struggled to build momentum and managed 134/8 in 20 overs, with Pankaj Naik top-scoring with 30. The Mega Strikers bowlers maintained tight control, led by Durgesh Prabhugaonkar (2/19). Chasing 135, CD Margao Mega Strikers comfortably reached the target in 17.2 overs, powered by Sidhit Raiturkar (40 off 48 balls) and Aditya Angle (31 off 28 balls).
