In a historic achievement for Goa, Samiksha Velip from Canacona and Gauri Mavlinkar from Mapusa have been appointed as Konkani interpreters in the Lok Sabha. Their selection marks a proud milestone for the promotion of the Konkani language at the national level.
Nayana Adarkar has been awarded the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar 2025 for her Konkani children’s story collection Belabaicho Shankar Aani Haer Kanyo. The prestigious award recognizes outstanding contributions to Indian literature for young readers.
The Directorate of Official Language, Government of Goa, has announced the recipients of the prestigious Bhasha Puraskar for the years 2022-2025. This award recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the promotion and development of Konkani and Marathi languages. The awards will be presented by Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on 30th May 2025 at Kala Akademy, Panaji.
Veteran Konkani theatre artist and activist Anthony Vaz has been named the recipient of the 2024 Mohini Smriti Puraskar, awarded in memory of Mohini Karmali, wife of noted writer and freedom fighter Nagesh Karmali. Recognised for his outstanding work in Konkani theatre, literature, and activism, Vaz has been a passionate advocate for the Konkani language and culture through plays, films, and grassroots movements.
The All India Konkani Parishad will hold its Annual General Meeting on June 1, 2025 at Konkani Bhasha Mandal, Margao. The meeting will review last year’s work, present plans for 2025-2026, and discuss the upcoming 26th Sahitya Sammelan.
