PM SHRI GHS Morpirla Marks Gandhi & Shastri Jayanti with Tributes, Cultural Events & Cleanliness Drive

PM SHRI GHS Morpirla observed the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri with a vibrant and meaningful celebration that united students, teachers, and parents in a spirit of respect, reflection, and responsibility. The commemorative event began with floral tributes paid to both leaders by Headmistress Maria Murena Miranda, who addressed the school community with an inspiring message urging students to internalize and live by Gandhiji’s ideals of peace, non-violence, harmony, and brotherhood.

Students participated enthusiastically in the celebration, with many arriving dressed as Mahatma Gandhi, evoking the timeless simplicity and strength of the Father of the Nation. Cultural dances and performances captured the essence of Gandhian philosophy and added a touch of joy and liveliness to the occasion.

In keeping with Gandhiji’s vision of cleanliness as a cornerstone of national development, the school organized a cleanliness drive around the campus. Students and staff actively participated in the effort, reinforcing the message of responsibility toward the environment and community. The day also featured a special exhibition created by students, showcasing Gandhian values, historical insights, and the life stories of both Gandhi and Shastri.

These celebrations served not only to remember two of India’s greatest leaders but also to educate young minds on the importance of values-based living, civic responsibility, and national pride. Events like these remind us of the powerful role schools play in shaping the moral and ethical compass of the next generation.

Yashogatha Naritvachi – A Tribute to India’s Trailblazing Women at Smt. Sunandabai Bandodkar School

At Smt. Sunandabai Bandodkar School, Navratri 2025 was marked not just with traditional celebration, but with a meaningful tribute to India’s real-life icons through a program titled Yashogatha Naritvachi – Aadarsh KaryamagntachiSaga of Womanhood – A Journey of Ideal Dedication. This initiative sought to spotlight the lives and legacies of eleven extraordinary women in Indian history whose courage, dedication, and contributions continue to inspire the nation.

Just as Navratri celebrates the divine feminine through nine goddesses, the school chose this auspicious time to remember women who embodied those very ideals in real life. Through thoughtful presentations, storytelling, and student engagement, the school celebrated their spirit — courage in the face of adversity, intellect breaking barriers, and service that uplifted generations.

Among those honored was Vyomika Singh, a trailblazer in India’s armed forces, known for her pivotal role in military operations. Her story resonated with students as an example of breaking gender stereotypes and serving the country with valor. Anandi Gopal Joshi, the first Indian woman trained in Western medicine, was remembered as a symbol of academic pursuit and perseverance. The story of Arunima Sinha, the first female amputee to scale Mount Everest, reminded students of resilience and determination in the face of unimaginable odds.

Other legendary women featured in the program included Rani Avantibai, one of the earliest female leaders to fight against British colonial rule in 1857; Shakuntala Devi, famed for her genius-level mental calculations; and Shanti Devi, India’s first female truck mechanic. Equally inspiring were the legacies of Ahilyabai Holkar, whose governance and civic contributions left a long-lasting impact, and Tulsi Gowda, revered as the “Encyclopedia of the Forest” for her environmental stewardship.

Jijabai’s contribution to shaping the vision and values of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was highlighted, alongside the revolutionary work of Madam Bhikaji Cama, the first person to unfurl an Indian flag on foreign soil. The pioneering efforts of Savitribai Phule, India’s first female teacher, stood as a beacon for educational reform and women’s empowerment.

Led by the school’s Headmistress, Mrs. Jyoti Chiplunkar, the program was deeply impactful, not only paying tribute to these incredible women but also planting seeds of inspiration in the young minds who attended. Through narratives and visuals, teachers engaged students in exploring the depth of these women’s contributions and urged them to emulate their values — courage, wisdom, service, and resilience.

Yashogatha Naritvachi – Aadarsh Karyamagntachi was more than a school event; it was a celebration of womanhood, a history lesson, and a motivational journey all in one. As the spirit of Navratri filled the school with festive energy, the stories of these remarkable women lit a spark that will continue to inspire and guide the future generation.

Soul-Shaping Heroes: A Teacher’s Day Tribute

Written by Intern Queeny George M.H & Tanisha Cardozo, Team Allycaral

Every year on September 5, India celebrates Teacher’s Day — a heartfelt tribute to educators who dedicate their lives to shaping the future. The day marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s second President, a scholar, philosopher, and teacher. When asked if his birthday could be celebrated, he humbly requested that the day be observed as Teacher’s Day instead — emphasizing the value of education and those who impart it.

Throughout history, the role of a teacher has always transcended the classroom. In ancient times, the ‘Guru’ was not merely an instructor but a guide, a mentor, and often a spiritual force who sought out students, trained them rigorously, and passed down generations of knowledge. These Gurus didn’t just teach—they transformed.

Great leaders of history often stood behind even greater teachers. Emperors like King Ashoka the Great were shaped by wise mentors like Chanakya. King Alexander the Great had the philosopher Aristotle as his tutor, while Plato once learned under the guidance of Socrates. Even in modern times, Anne Sullivan’s mentorship of Helen Keller reminds us that teaching is more than instruction—it is empowerment.

This lineage of impactful teaching continues today. Classrooms across India and the world were filled with teachers who cared deeply. Teachers who weren’t just present for the syllabus, but for the students. Many of them acted as a team, building students’ character, guiding them toward the right path, and shaping not just academic outcomes but lives.

These teachers were strict when needed, but also the first to smile, laugh, and celebrate with their students. They taught lessons beyond the textbook—showing up during our struggles, asking the questions others missed, and believing in us long before we believed in ourselves.

Their impact doesn’t end at the classroom door. It lingers in our decision-making, our confidence, and our resilience. Whether they stayed back after hours to explain a difficult concept or gave us advice that stayed with us for decades, these educators have left a permanent mark on our journey.

This Teacher’s Day, we celebrate not just the knowledge they pass on, but the compassion, encouragement, and belief they give us in every small interaction.

Because every student deserves a teacher like that.

So here’s to them — the chalk-holding, soul-shaping, heart-hugging heroes of our lives.

Happy Teacher’s Day — and to all the amazing teachers out there… hip hip hooray!

Goa Embarks on AI-Powered Education: CM Pramod Sawant Launches Initiative in Schools and Colleges

Written by Tanisha Cardozo

In a move that signals Goa’s shift toward future-ready education, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant has announced the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a formal part of the curriculum in both schools and colleges across the state.

This initiative aims to equip students with 21st-century skills that are becoming increasingly crucial in today’s tech-driven world. Goa is among the first Indian states to take such a bold step.

At the heart of this initiative is the creation of a dedicated AI Council, which will:

  • Design updated syllabi tailored to evolving industry demands
  • Oversee teacher training in AI tools and practices
  • Promote student-led AI projects
  • Collaborate with industry leaders and research institutions
  • Support and incubate AI-based startups from young innovators

CM Sawant emphasized the importance of preparing youth for global digital transformation. “We want students from Goa to not just be job-seekers, but creators and innovators. AI education will empower them to lead in the future tech economy,” he stated.

This move aligns with national priorities like Digital India, Atmanirbhar Bharat, and Skilling India, positioning Goa at the forefront of tech-education reforms.

Beyond the syllabus, this is a systemic shift in mindset — encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and entrepreneurial spirit from a young age.

By integrating AI into mainstream education, Goa is setting a benchmark for innovation, inclusivity, and adaptability in India’s education landscape.

As the AI Council begins its work, educational institutions across Goa will see significant upgrades in digital infrastructure, teacher capabilities, and learning outcomes.

With this initiative, Goa aims not just to keep pace with global trends, but to lead India’s charge into a technologically empowered future.
