IGNOUโ€“Goa Staff Holds Tiranga Rally in Porvorim as Part of Nationwide Celebrations


Porvorim, Goa โ€” The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Regional Centre in Goa proudly organized a Tiranga Rally in Porvorim, bringing together staff and community members in a vibrant display of patriotism.

This initiative was held under the directives of the Ministry of Education, Government of India, as part of the nationwide celebrations leading up to Independence Day. The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from the IGNOUโ€“Goa team, reflecting unity and pride in the Tricolour.

Similar activities were conducted simultaneously at all 56 Regional Centres of IGNOU across the country, showcasing the institutionโ€™s commitment to spreading the message of national unity and pride.

The colourful procession, with participants carrying the National Flag, resonated with slogans of patriotism and was a true celebration of the spirit of Har Ghar Tiranga.

IGNOU Regional Centre Goa Hosts Workshop on Research Proposal Writing for Postgraduate Learners


The IGNOU Regional Centre in Goa continues to strengthen academic and research foundations for its learners. On a recent academic day at the IGNOU Dhempe College Centre, Panaji, a specially curated workshop was conducted focusing on the fundamentals of preparing research proposals for postgraduate students.

Expert-Led Sessions

The workshop was led by Dr Ajay Gaude and Ms. Pratiksha Shirodkar, two accomplished educators and research experts, who brought clarity, structure, and practical wisdom to the often-daunting task of writing a research proposal. Their collaborative approach and hands-on examples helped adult learners understand the technical and strategic elements of research planning.

Their session included:

  • Structuring a research question
  • Framing objectives
  • Conducting a literature review
  • Understanding methodology
  • Ethical considerations in research
  • Formatting and presenting proposals

IGNOU new Regional Director Meets Hon. Governor of Goa to strengthen Distance Education in Goa


In a significant development, Dr. G. Shrinivas has taken over as the new Regional Director of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) Goa. Following his appointment, Dr. Shrinivas met with the Honorable Governor of Goa Shri Sridharan Pillai to seek guidance and discuss strategies for strengthening IGNOU and distance education in the state.

Dr. Shrinivas, a seasoned academician in Open and Distance learning brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Prior to his appointment, he served as the Deputy Director of IGNOU Regional Centre, Panaji and Mumbai Region. With his expertise and vision, he aims to further expand IGNOU’s reach and improve access to quality education in Goa.

Under Dr. Shrinivas’ leadership, IGNOU Goa is expected to introduce new programs and initiatives, leveraging technology to enhance the learning experience. His focus on strengthening distance education will enable more students, especially those from rural and disadvantaged backgrounds, to pursue higher education.

The IGNOU Regional Centre, Panaji, currently serves over 10 active study centers across Goa, Karnataka, and Maharashtra ยฒ. With Dr. Shrinivas at the helm, the center is poised to play a more significant role in promoting open and distance learning in the region. IGNOU offers 334 academic Programmes and has more than 3.2 million students taking benefit of Higher education and stands as largest Open University in the world.
