The Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), in collaboration with the Government of Goa, has announced a Statewide Aakash Kandil (lantern-making) competition as part of the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI 2025). The event aims to celebrate Goa’s cultural heritage through creativity and community participation, with exciting cash prizes and participation rewards for all entries.
The 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) will open with a parade instead of the usual inaugural ceremony at the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant will flag off the IFFI Parade, which will feature Goa’s signature carnival and Shigmo floats. The change comes as the stadium is booked for the FIDE World Cup, confirmed ESG Chairperson Delilah Lobo.
