Is 3 Idiots 2 Finally Happening? Fans of the iconic 2009 film 3 Idiots may soon get the answer to a question they’ve been asking for over a decade. Reports suggest that Rajkumar Hirani has finalized the script for the sequel, which will reunite Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi. The sequel is expected to go on floors in the second half of 2026.

The original 3 Idiots, released in December 2009, was a groundbreaking film that captured the hearts of audiences with its story of friendship, ambition, and the transformative journey of three college friends. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani, the film starred Aamir Khan, Sharman Joshi, R. Madhavan, Kareena Kapoor, Boman Irani, and Mona Singh in key roles. It achieved both critical acclaim and commercial success, earning approximately Rs 400 crore worldwide and leaving a lasting influence on the youth.

According to reports, the story of 3 Idiots 2 will pick up about 15 years after the original, following the lives of Rancho, Farhan, and Raju as they navigate new challenges and reunite once again. While Hirani has entertained the idea of a sequel for several years, he reportedly decided to revisit the project only recently after putting the Dadasaheb Phalke biopic on hold. Sources suggest that Hirani wanted to ensure that the sequel lived up to the legacy of the original, dedicating considerable time to perfect the screenplay.

Fans are excited about the reunion of the film’s iconic cast, including Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, R. Madhavan, and Sharman Joshi, who are expected to reprise their roles. As the anticipation builds for 3 Idiots 2, Bollywood enthusiasts are eager to witness whether the sequel can recreate the charm, humor, and emotional depth that made the first film a timeless classic.
