Govt. College, Quepem Signs MoU with St. Aloysius University, Mangalore to Promote Interdisciplinary Research

Quepem: Govt. College, Quepem has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Mangalore, Karnataka, aimed at enhancing interdisciplinary research and academic collaboration between the two institutions.


The initiative was undertaken by the PG Department of Konkani and the Konkani Research Centre of Govt. College, Quepem. Prof. Dr. Rajay Pawar, Head of the PG Department of Konkani, was present on the occasion and was accompanied by Dipraj Satardekar of Govt. College, Quepem.

On behalf of St. Aloysius University, Vice-Chancellor Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis, S.J., and Registrar Dr. Ronald Nazareth signed the MoU as the principal signatories. Ms. Flora Castelino of the Konkani Institute of Mangalore was also present during the ceremony.

The MoU aims to facilitate interdisciplinary research initiatives involving faculty members and students from both institutions. Academic departments across Arts, Science and Commerce streams are expected to benefit from the collaboration.

With this agreement, both institutions will be able to optimally utilise shared academic resources, including libraries, research laboratories and expert resource persons. Several educationists conveyed their best wishes, describing the MoU as a positive step towards strengthening research and higher education initiatives.

Goa University Hosts Workshop on Epigraphy and Palaeography


Goa University recently hosted an insightful Workshop on Epigraphy and Palaeography, inaugurated by Prof. Sunder Dhuri, Registrar of Goa University. The workshop was jointly organized by the Discipline of History, D. D. Kosambi School of Social Sciences and Behavioural Studies, and the Department of Goa Gazetteer and Historical Records, Government of Goa.

Held at the Seminar Hall, Faculty Block B, the workshop aimed to provide participants with a deeper understanding of ancient inscriptions, scripts, and historical document analysis. It brought together scholars, students, and history enthusiasts to explore techniques in reading, interpreting, and preserving historical records.

Such initiatives reflect Goa Universityโ€™s ongoing commitment to promoting research and scholarship in the humanities, while also strengthening collaboration between academic institutions and government archival departments.

St. Xavierโ€™s College, Mapusa Celebrates 60th Annual Day with Grandeur


The 60th Annual Day of St. Xavierโ€™s College, Mapusa, held on January 15, 2026, was celebrated with great enthusiasm and dignity in the presence of management, distinguished guests, alumni, staff and students. The event was presided over by the Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Nazareth Fernandes, Superior General of the Society of the Missionaries of St. Francis Xavier.

The programme began with a warm welcome by the Administrator, Rev. Fr. Antonio Salema, who greeted the Chief Guest, dignitaries and the audience. Prof. Filipe Rodrigues e Melo, Vice Principal, formally introduced the Chief Guest, highlighting his leadership and contribution to the mission of education. The Officiating Principal, Ms Ursula Barreto, then presented the Annual Report, outlining the significant academic, co-curricular and extracurricular achievements of students during the academic year 2024โ€“25.

Adding a special emotional touch to the occasion, the Parent-Teacher Association and the Alumni Association felicitated retired faculty members of the institution. The gathering evoked a strong sense of nostalgia as former teaching and non-teaching staff reunited to relive fond memories associated with the college.

During the Award Ceremony, deserving alumni and students were honoured for their outstanding achievements in academics, sports and extracurricular activities, celebrating the spirit of excellence that defines the institution. Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr. Nazareth Fernandes drew inspiration from tennis icon Novak Djokovic, emphasising that achievement and privilege come with responsibility. He reminded students that privilege should never lead to complacency and that a meaningful legacy is shaped by the lives one positively impacts. He encouraged students to remain noble in thought, word and deed, and to generously share their talents and blessings with others.

The celebration also featured vibrant cultural performances by students, showcasing their creativity, talent and confidence. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the General Secretary of the Studentsโ€™ Council, Mr Akhil Gurav, who expressed gratitude to the Chief Guest, dignitaries, programme coordinator Prof. Maria Fonseca and all those who contributed to making the 60th Annual Day a memorable success.

Kilowott Strengthens Industry-Academia Collaboration Through Interactive Campus Roadshows Across Goa

Kilowott, the Goa-based global digital transformation firm, recently completed a series of interactive campus roadshows across some of the stateโ€™s leading colleges, marking a significant step forward in strengthening industry-academia engagement. The initiative was designed to familiarize students with real-world recruitment practices, assessment processes and evolving career opportunities in the IT and technology sectors. Through a combination of interactive sessions, logical reasoning tests and psychometric assessments, students received practical exposure to the expectations and demands of the modern digital workplace.

During these engagements, Kilowott signed Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with St. Xavierโ€™s College and the Goa College of Arts, reinforcing the companyโ€™s commitment to building long-term academic partnerships. These MoUs pave the way for workshops, training programs, internships and potential placement avenues, creating structured pathways for students to connect with industry needs. The roadshows collectively engaged more than 700 students across campuses including St. Xavierโ€™s College, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Goa University, S.R.I.E.I.T College Shiroda, PCCE Verna, AITD Assagao and the Goa College of Arts. Faculty participation played an essential role in facilitating meaningful discussions between academic leaders and the Kilowott team on the alignment of curriculum with contemporary industry standards.

The high turnout at institutions such as AITD Assagao, which hosted 149 students, and Don Bosco College of Engineering, with 103 participants, reflected the growing interest among students in understanding recruitment dynamics, employability skills and the broader landscape of the digital economy. Students from varied disciplinesโ€”including Computer Engineering, IT, Electronics and Telecommunication, BBA, BCA, Mass Communication, MCA, MSc Data Science and Fine Artsโ€”benefited from the initiative. Many expressed appreciation for the companyโ€™s focus on mentorship, leadership development and design-driven digital solutions.

Faculty members, including Vanessa Zita Furtado, Ruella Dโ€™Souza, Dr. Norman Dias, Teja Kundaikar, Prof. Manjusha Sanke, Razia de Loyola Furtado e Sardinha and Prof. Maria Ferreira, supported the sessions, further enriching the experience by enabling active dialogue on industry readiness and academic enhancement. Kilowott also held exploratory meetings with representatives from Don Bosco College Panjim and Parvatibai Chowgule College to discuss future collaborations.
