Vimson Panjim Powerplay Seal One-Run Thriller in GSB Unity Cup 3.0


It was a night of high drama and edge-of-the-seat action in Margao as Vimson Panjim Powerplay clinched a sensational one-run victory over Madgaon Royals CC in the GSB Unity Cup 3.0, organised by the Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust.

Played under floodlights at the MCC Ground, the match delivered everything a cricket fan could hope for — a competitive total, strong individual performances, and a finish that went right down to the final ball.

Chasing 160 for victory, Madgaon Royals CC fought hard but fell just short, ending at 158 for 7 in their 20 overs. The match reached its peak in the final delivery, where the Royals needed four runs to win and three to tie. In a desperate attempt to complete the third run, Granthik Buyao was run out, handing Vimson Panjim Powerplay a dramatic one-run win.

Earlier in the evening, after winning the toss, Madgaon Royals opted to field first. Vimson Panjim Powerplay posted a competitive total of 159 for 7, thanks to a composed and captain’s knock from Amod Borkar. Leading from the front, he scored a fluent 50 off 39 balls, including five boundaries and a six.

He was well supported by Shivam Varik, who contributed 31 off 25 balls, and Siddhant Amonkar, who added a quickfire 30 off just 19 deliveries. The innings was further boosted by 21 extras, which proved crucial in the end.

For Madgaon Royals, Sanat Prabhudessai was the standout bowler, returning impressive figures of 2 for 23, while Samprabh Phaldesai and Kartik Hattangadi chipped in with a wicket each.

In response, Madgaon Royals mounted a strong chase led by Sahish Mahambrey, who played a blistering knock of 52 runs, smashing four boundaries and three sixes. Sanat Prabhudessai added 31 runs, while Damodar Pai Patnekar (20) and Kartik Hattangadi (17) provided valuable contributions in the middle order.

However, disciplined bowling by Vimson Panjim Powerplay kept the pressure intact. The team conceded just eight extras, a factor that ultimately made the difference in such a closely contested match. Amod Borkar, Kapil Sinai Borkar, and Siddesh Desai picked up a wicket each at crucial moments.

At the post-match presentation, Amod Borkar was named the Desserts N More Player of the Match for his all-round performance, while Siddesh Desai received the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match award.

Margao witnessed an evening of gripping cricket action as CD Fountainhead and Sinq Rangers emerged victorious in their respective matches of the GSB Unity Cup 3.0, organised by the Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust. Played under lights at the MCC ground, both encounters kept spectators engaged till the final overs.

In the first match, CD Fountainhead put up a competitive total of 169 for 7 in 20 overs. Manish Kakode anchored the innings with a well-crafted 49, supported by Anish Prabhudesai’s 45. The middle order capitalised in the death overs, with Vikrant Prabhu and Pranav Biche adding crucial runs to push the total to a challenging score.

Chasing 170, Desserts N More Avengers fought hard but fell just short, finishing at 161 for 7. Kaushal Hattangadi and Saish Hegde led the resistance, but disciplined bowling from Pranav Biche and Vikrant Prabhu ensured Fountainhead maintained control to seal the win.

The second match saw Sinq Rangers post a strong total of 182 for 6. Contributions came from across the batting lineup, with Sairaj Dhond, Nikhil Virginkar, Vismay Falgaonkar, and Megh Netravalkar all playing impactful knocks to build a commanding innings.

Priority Titans had a shaky start in response, losing early wickets and slipping to 22 for 4. However, Sahil Mandrekar’s half-century and Animesh Prabhugaonkar’s steady knock revived hopes. Despite the fightback, Mehanak Dharwadkar’s brilliant spell of 4 for 25 turned the tide, restricting Titans to 174 and sealing a well-earned win for Sinq Rangers.

With these results, the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 continues to deliver exciting cricket, highlighting emerging talent and competitive spirit in Goa’s local cricket circuit.

Dempo Challengers Register Emphatic 87-Run Victory in GSB Unity Cup 3.0

Dempo Challengers delivered a dominant all-round performance to defeat Shamrao Tridents by 87 runs in the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 tournament organised by the Goa GSB Sports & Charitable Trust. The floodlit match was played at the MCC Ground in Margao on Thursday.


Invited to bat first, Dempo Challengers piled up an imposing 216 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs.

Half-Centuries Lay the Foundation
Tunish Sawkar (53) and Samar Dubhashi (55) were the architects of the big total, stitching together a crucial 118-run partnership for the third wicket. Tunish struck 2 boundaries and 3 sixes, while Samar’s fluent knock included 5 fours and a six.

Skipper Aditya Angle provided the late fireworks with a blistering unbeaten 39 off just 15 deliveries, smashing 4 fours and 2 sixes. Sumiran Amonkar chipped in with 23 runs. For Shamrao Tridents, Siddhant Kunde was the most successful bowler, claiming 2 wickets for 28 runs.

Chasing a daunting target of 217, Shamrao Tridents began strongly. Deval Karmali (24 off 13 balls) and Abhijit Bhandare (51 off 21 balls, 5 fours, 4 sixes) added 72 runs in just 5.3 overs for the opening wicket, raising hopes of a competitive chase.

However, skipper Aditya Angle turned the game around by clean bowling Karmali, triggering a dramatic collapse. The Tridents’ innings unravelled rapidly as they were bowled out for 129 in 16.5 overs.

Angle led from the front with the ball, finishing with impressive figures of 4 for 19. Raghuvir Gharse claimed 2 for 18, while Samar Dubhashi produced a remarkable spell of 2 for 2.

Aditya Angle was named the Desserts N More Player of the Match, while Samar Dubhashi received the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match award. The honours were presented by Dr. Sunil Kakodkar and Kapil Borkar.

Desserts N More Avengers delivered a commanding performance to defeat Vimson Panjim Powerplay by six wickets in the ongoing GSB Unity Cup 3.0 tournament, organised by the Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust. The match was played under floodlights at the MCC Ground in Margao on Wednesday.


After winning the toss, Desserts N More Avengers elected to bowl first and successfully restricted Vimson Panjim Powerplay to 122 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Sardesai’s Lone Effort

For Vimson Panjim Powerplay, Arsh Sardesai waged a lone battle with a brisk 55 off 34 balls, striking four boundaries and three sixes. Gaurish Agni and Nimay Kamat chipped in with 17 runs each, but the rest of the batting lineup struggled against disciplined bowling.

Siddhesh Prabhu Alvencar led the bowling attack for Desserts N More Avengers with impressive figures of 2 for 15. He received good support from Kaushal Hattangadi (1/12), Vikram Gaitonde (1/19), Pratham Prabhugaonkar (1/25) and Akhil Nadkarni (1/23).

Comfortable Chase
Chasing a modest target of 123, Desserts N More Avengers completed the task in just 13.2 overs, reaching 125 for 4.

Smit Dalvi continued his fine form with a quick 39 off 26 deliveries, including three fours and three sixes. Sachin Bhandare (21) and Saish Hegde, who remained unbeaten on 22, ensured there were no late hiccups in the chase.

For Vimson Panjim Powerplay, Shivam Varik stood out with figures of 2 for 15, while Siddhant Amonkar (1/10) and Arsh Sardesai (1/11) picked up a wicket each.

Margao witnessed a gripping cricket encounter on Sunday as Sinq Rangers defeated Ultracon Madgaon Royals in a thrilling Super Over contest in the GSB Unity Cup 3.0 tournament organised by the Goa GSB Sports and Charitable Trust at the MCC Ground.

Batting first, Sinq Rangers put up an imposing total of 196 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was built on a commanding 95-run opening partnership between captain Samrudh Bharne and Vismay Falgaonkar. Bharne struck a fluent 50 off 31 balls, including five fours and a six, while Falgaonkar contributed 50 off 39 balls with six boundaries. Nikhil Virginkar further accelerated the scoring with a blistering 50 off just 24 balls, smashing eight fours and a six. Sahil Adwalpalkar remained unbeaten on 21 as Rangers finished strongly.

In response, Ultracon Madgaon Royals matched the intensity from the outset, racing to 49 runs in the first six overs. Kartik Hattangadi scored a steady 50 off 35 balls with two fours and two sixes, while Sanat Prabhudessai added 50 off 34 balls, striking six boundaries. Captain Damodar Pai Patnekar chipped in with 32 runs, and Granthik Buyao’s crucial 16 runs in the final over ensured the Royals equalled the total at 196 for 6, pushing the match into a Super Over.

The Super Over brought heightened drama. Madgaon Royals managed only 4 runs in four balls, losing Granthik Buyao and Showmik Angle in the process, with Nikhil Virginkar claiming a wicket. Chasing 5 runs to win, Sinq Rangers showed composure under pressure. Samrudh Bharne took three runs off the first ball, and Vismay Falgaonkar struck a boundary off the second ball to seal the victory in emphatic fashion.

For their performances, Vismay Prabhugaonker received the Desserts n More Player of the Match award, while Nikhil Virginkar was presented with the Kamat Realty Hero of the Match award by Aditya Angle and Gurudatt Angle.
