Directorate of Official Language declares ‘Bhasha Puraskar’


The Directorate of Official Language, Government of Goa has announced the Bhasha Puraskar for the years 2022-2023, 2023-2024 and 2024-2025.

The 2022-2023 ‘Dnyanpeeth awardee Ravindra Kelekar Konkani Bhasha Puraskar’ has been declared to Shri. Manikrao Ram Nayak Gaunekar, 2023-2024 ‘Dnyanpeeth Ravindra Kelekar Konkani Bhasha Puraskar’ has been announced to Shri. Suresh Ramchandra Pai, 2024-2025 ‘Dnyanpeeth Ravindra Kelekar Konkani Bhasha Puraskar’ has been declared to Shri. Bhiku Bomi Naik, has been declared.

The 2022-2023 ‘B. D. Satoskar Marathi Bhasha Puraskar’ to Shri. Shambhu Bhau Bandekar. 2023-2024‘B. D. Satoskar Marathi Bhasha Puraskar’ to Shri. Anil Gajanan Samant has been declared. 2024-2025 ‘B. D. Satoskar Marathi Bhasha Puraskar’ to Shri. Ramesh D. Onskar has been declared.

A five-member selection committee of experts appointed by the government has selected the above persons for their outstanding contribution for the promotion and development of Konkani, Marathi languages from the several nominations received by this Directorate.

The ‘Bhasha Puraskar Yojana’ is implemented for the development of languages through the Directorate of Official Language. The award is given to individuals who have worked for the Konkani, Marathi languages throughout their lives. The objective of the Government is to put the example of such great personalities before the people and to honour the writers and recognise their work for the growth of the language. The awards will be presented at a special function at the hands of Honourable Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant on 30th May 2025 at                 10:00 am at Kala Akademy, Panaji Campal Goa.

Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C), Government of Goa Appoints Third Party Auditors to Audit State IT Projects


Altinho, May 15, 2025: In a strategic move to strengthen transparency and enhance the quality of IT and ICT project implementation, the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C), Government of Goa, has empanelled to Third Party Audit (TPA) agencies for IT and ICT infrastructure projects in the state.

These agencies will function as independent auditors to review and assess the implementation of technology projects undertaken by various Government departments.

Their role includes evaluating compliance with standards, verifying performance, and ensuring that project objectives are being met effectively.

This empanelment is part of the Government’s broader objective to strengthen Goa’s IT ecosystem and promote the efficient use of digital tools in delivering public services. The focus is on ensuring transparency, improving service quality, and promoting accountability in the execution of IT initiatives.

All Government departments, corporations, and autonomous bodies have been notified and are encouraged to engage with the empanelled TPAs for relevant projects.

The Government of Goa continues to advance digital governance through structured, high-quality implementation and oversight, with the ultimate goal of improving public service delivery across the state.

Heritage Festival 2025 starts off with a grand celebration of Goa’s living traditions


Saligao, 9 May 2025 — The picturesque village of Saligao came alive this evening as the much-awaited Heritage Festival 2025 officially commenced, drawing locals and visitors into a vibrant celebration of Goa’s rich cultural legacy. Organised by the Department of Tourism, Government of Goa, the three-day festival is set to run until 11th May 2025 at the Football ground, Saligao, offering an exciting lineup of traditional folk performances, live music, fashion, and more.

The inaugural evening began with soulful Goan music that set the tone for the festivities, followed by a formal inauguration and felicitation ceremony attended by dignitaries, local leaders, and cultural enthusiasts.

The festival was formally inaugurated by Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Shri Rohan A. Khaunte in the presence of Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade; Shri Kedar Naik, Hon’ble MLA Saligao Constituency & Vice Chairman, GSIDC; Smt Delilah Lobo, Hon’ble MLA Siolim Constituency; Shri Kedar A. Naik, Director of Tourism, and Shri Kuldeep Arolkar, Managing Director, GTDC, ZP Members and Panchayat members along with others.

It is with great pride that I announce Saligao as the permanent venue for the Heritage Festival, stated Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Shri Rohan A. Khaunte. He further added that “Goa is evolving beyond its beaches—embracing regenerative tourism that respects culture, nurtures the environment, uplifts society, and strengthens the economy. This shift is paving the way for a more sustainable and inclusive future, where tourism thrives alongside the preservation of our natural and cultural assets. The minister further stated that In Saligao, a range of infrastructure developments, with the support of the Chief Minister, will be taken forward under the Department of Tourism.

The evening’s cultural showcase featured the Kanta Gaude Troupe, who mesmerised the audience with a performance of the Lamp Dance and the graceful Dekhni, one of Goa’s most iconic folk dances. The highlight of the evening was a captivating fashion show curated by Verma Dmello, blending tradition with contemporary flair. The night concluded with an electrifying live performance by Sidhannath Buyao & Band, leaving the crowd energised and eager for what’s to come.

The festival grounds also hosted local self-help groups (SHGs) and artisans, offering handcrafted products, traditional Goan cuisine, and heritage exhibits — creating an immersive and authentic cultural experience for all attendees.

The Heritage Festival will continue on 10th and 11th May, with performances by Sonia Sirsat & Band, RAAGA – The Band, RASM Band, and Black Sapphire Band, along with folk dances including Goff, Veerbhadra, Jagor, and Corridinho.

The Department of Tourism welcomes everyone to be part of this unique celebration that honours Goa’s intangible cultural heritage while supporting local talent and sustainable tourism initiatives.

National Seminar Celebrates Life and Literature of Dr. Manoharrai Sardesai


Renowned Konkani writer Dr. Manoharrai Sardesai was remembered and celebrated at a one-day National Seminar on “Dr. Manoharrai Sardesai: Life and Literature.” The seminar was organized jointly by M.E.S. Vasant Joshi College Arts and Commerce Zuarinagar, Goa Konkani Academy, and the Directorate of Official Language, Government of Goa.

Inaugural Session
The seminar commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp, followed by a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Manasvi M. Kamat, Principal of M.E.S. Vasant Joshi College. Prof. Satyawan Naik, Head of the Konkani Department and Seminar Coordinator, presented the seminar’s concept and objectives. Vice Principal Rochana Kharangate introduced the chief guest, Shashikant Sardesai, former principal of S. S. Dempo College.

Shashikant Sardesai’s Keynote Address
Shashikant Sardesai, in his keynote address, highlighted Dr. Manoharrai Sardesai’s unique personality and literary contributions. He noted that Dr. Sardesai was known both as an individual and as a writer, presenting socially relevant topics through his literary works. Sardesai’s poetry reflected his personal experiences, and he guided new writers, nurturing literary talent.

Research Papers and Sessions
The seminar featured two sessions, each chaired by a distinguished scholar. The first session, chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Rajay Pawar, Principal of Kala Academy’s College of Theatre Arts, saw research papers presented by Shailendra Mehta, Maya Kharangate, and Rajat Hegde. The second session, chaired by Prof. (Dr.) Cosma Fernandes, Head of the Konkani Department, featured research papers by Raymond D’Cunha, Umesh Sardesai, and R. S. Bhaskar.

Concluding Session
The concluding session was graced by Maya Sardesai, Vice Principal of Dempe Higher Secondary School, as the chief guest. She shared personal insights about Dr. Manoharrai Sardesai’s character, highlighting his respect for women, love for children, and constant encouragement to others.

Vote of Thanks and Conclusion
In his vote of thanks, Satyawan Naik expressed gratitude to all participants and contributors. The event concluded with Asst. Prof. Nalisha Velip compering the final session. The National Seminar attracted around 150 attendees, including scholars, teachers, students, and admirers of Dr. Manoharrai Sardesai, from Goa, Mangalore, Kerala, Mumbai, and other regions.

National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and Government of Goa Join Hands to Launch ‘Student Skilling Program’ in BFSI Sector


Goa, February 27, 2025 – The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) and the Government of Goa have joined forces to launch the ‘Student Skilling Program’ aiming to equip the youth of Goa with industry relevant skills in Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the two entities, marking a significant step towards empowering young individuals with industry-relevant skills and enhancing their employability in the BFSI sector. Goa is the 5th state after Uttarakhand, Meghalaya, Chhattisgarh and Assam to partner with NSE on skilling youth.

The MoU was exchanged between Shri Bhushan K. Savaikar, Director, Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Goa and Shri Sriram Krishnan, Chief Business Development Officer, NSE in the presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister of Goa, Dr. Pramod Sawant at Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sanquelim, Goa.

Goa, with its expanding financial ecosystem, is well-positioned to be a significant contributor to this sector, provided its youth are equipped with the right skills. NSE’s Student Skilling Program initiative aligns with the Government of Goa’s vision of unlocking human capital thereby, enabling financial well-being and social mobility. NSE and the state of Goa have prioritized skill development and are committed to bridging the skill gap and enhancing employment opportunities for the youth of the state.

The Student Skilling Program will be conducted in two levels. Level 1 is a 20-hour training program, upon completion of which students will be certified in the ‘Foundation Course in BFSI.’ This will equip students with essential financial management skills, ensuring both personal and professional growth. Level 2 is a 30-hour advanced training program designed to prepare students for the NISM regulatory examination. Successful candidates will gain nationwide industry-recognized certification, enhancing their job prospects in the capital market.
