Goa | February 2026: The Union Budget 2026’s emphasis on maritime infrastructure, logistics development and multimodal connectivity has been welcomed by industry leaders in Goa, with Arjun Chowgule, Chairman, CII Goa State Council and Managing Director, Chowgule & Co Pvt Ltd, calling it a significant boost for coastal and port-linked economies.
Reacting to the Budget announcements, Chowgule highlighted the importance of initiatives covering inland waterways, seaplane connectivity, ship-repair hubs and last-mile logistics, stating that these measures are critical to building a robust and self-reliant maritime and logistics ecosystem in India.
He noted that sustained investments in logistics infrastructure will play a key role in reducing logistics costs, improving supply-chain efficiency and strengthening multimodal transport networks. According to him, support for container manufacturing will also help curb import dependence while strengthening India’s export and logistics value chain.
Chowgule further pointed out that increased focus on inland waterways and coastal shipping will promote more sustainable transport solutions, enhance cargo movement efficiency and reduce pressure on road-based logistics.
“These initiatives will accelerate growth across the maritime and logistics sectors nationwide. States with coastal access, ports and inland waterways, such as Goa, stand to benefit significantly through increased industrial activity, development of ancillary services and stronger integration into India’s evolving multimodal logistics network,” he said.
Industry experts believe that Goa, with its strategic coastline and port infrastructure, is well-positioned to leverage the Budget’s maritime focus to drive economic growth, attract investment and strengthen its role in India’s logistics and trade ecosystem.
