Baale BPS Open 2026: Kyan Mavany, Ethan Ataide Advance to Boys U-14 Final; Girls Semifinalists Confirmed

Margao, February 2026 โ€“ The third edition of the Baale BPS Open 2026 continues to showcase emerging tennis talent, with exciting matches unfolding at the B.P.S. Sports Club in Margao.


In the Boys Under-14 category, Kyan Mavany and Ethan Ataide secured their spots in the final after impressive semifinal victories. Kyan delivered a commanding performance, defeating Alec Barreto 4-0, 4-0 in straight sets. Ethan, meanwhile, battled through a gripping encounter against Shaurya Verlekar, eventually clinching the match 4-3, 1-4, 11-9 in a thrilling decider.

Earlier in the quarterfinals, Kyan maintained his dominant form with a 6-1 win over Devaansh Naik. Alec Barreto advanced with a 6-1 victory against Aarav Ataide, while Shaurya Verlekar edged Arsh Sardesai 7-5 in a closely fought match. Ethan Ataide also impressed, progressing with a 6-3 win over Christian Fernandes.

In the opening round, Kyan began his campaign with a 6-0 victory over Parth Kadam. Devaansh Naik defeated Satya Stewart 6-1, while Aarav Ataide registered a 6-4 win over Aymer Fernandes. Alec Barreto advanced with a dominant 6-0 performance against Keon Fernandes. Shaurya Verlekar posted a 6-1 win over Vihaan Krishnan, Arsh Sardesai defeated Ivan Henriques 6-2, and Ethan Ataide secured a 6-0 victory over Arnav Kamat.

In the Girls Under-14 category, the quarterfinals produced several convincing results. Tvisha Sardesai cruised to a 6-0 win over Eva de Souza, Kimberly Dโ€™sa defeated Myra Borkar 6-0, Urvi Panandikar advanced with a 6-4 victory against Analeah Menezes, and Bhaavya Bhoomkar secured a 6-1 win over Anindita Sawate.

Supported by Baale Resort Goa and conducted under the aegis of the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA), the Baale BPS Open 2026 has attracted 197 entries across junior, open, and veteransโ€™ categories. The 11-day tournament continues to provide a competitive platform for rising stars and seasoned players alike, with several key matches scheduled in the coming days.

Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2026: Open Category Matches Begin as Mandar Clinches Double in Masters Segment

Panaji, January 26, 2026: The much-anticipated Open category matches of the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2026 commenced on Republic Day at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias and Panjim Gymkhana courts, marking Day Five of the tournament. Players across the menโ€™s singles draw began their campaigns in the prestigious 11th edition of the event.


Earlier in the tournamentโ€™s Masters categories, Mandar achieved a remarkable double by winning both the 45+ menโ€™s singles and 90+ menโ€™s doubles titles.

Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2026: Milica Rakovic and Mladen Petrovic Claim Masters 35+ Mixed Doubles Crown

Panaji, January 25, 2026: The Masters events at the Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2026 moved into a crucial phase on Saturday, with titles and finalists decided across singles and doubles categories at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias and Gymkhana courts.


In the Masters 35+ mixed doubles final, Serbian nationals Milica Rakovic and Mladen Petrovic claimed the title with a composed 7โ€“5, 6โ€“1 victory. The pair displayed strong coordination and consistency to emerge champions in the category.

Other finals also delivered competitive encounters. Sunil Mishra lifted the Masters 55+ singles title after defeating Jai Mishra 6โ€“4, 6โ€“1. In the Masters 60+ singles final, Manoj Chandiramani staged an impressive comeback to overcome Sheetal Bhosale 3โ€“6, 6โ€“0, 10โ€“5.

The doubles semifinals saw dominant performances across categories. In the Masters 90+ menโ€™s doubles, Mandar and Ashish booked their place in the final with a commanding 6โ€“1, 6โ€“1 win over Jaydeep and Vivek. The Masters 120+ doubles semifinal featured a strong showing by father-son duo Shrikant Tambe and Amit Tambe, who defeated Chandiramani and Jeyavel 4โ€“2, 4โ€“2.

Ashutosh and Bipin advanced to the Masters 110+ doubles final after defeating Srinivas and Guruprasad 6โ€“1, while Sagar and Ashok joined them with a 6โ€“3 victory over Sachin and Kevin.

In the Masters 45+ singles category, defending champion Amit Tambe progressed to the final after a 6โ€“1 win over Naveen Cardozo, while Mandar Wakankar secured his place with a 6โ€“0 win earlier in the rounds.

The tournament, jointly organised by Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias and the Gadre Group in association with the Goa State Tennis Association (GSTA), has received a record 555 entries across the Masters and Open segments. Matches in the Open category will commence from January 26.

Nishad Shevde Storms Into Quarterfinals of Baale BPS Open 2025


Margao, February 17 โ€“ Margao-based tennis veteran Nishad Shevde stormed into the quarterfinals of the ongoing Baale BPS Open 2025 tennis tournament defeating Sujit Sahoo in a one-sided pre-quarterfinal match in the open menโ€™s singles category, held at the iconic B.P.S. Sports Club courts in Margao.

Shevde, a runner-up in the tournamentโ€™s maiden edition last year, trounced Sujit 6-0, while Akhil Shirwaikar defeated Dmitry Smirnov 6-4 in another pre-quarterfinal encounter 6-4.

The second edition of the Baale BPS Open 2025, supported by the Goa State Tennis Association and the Baale Resort Goa, is currently underway at the B.P.S Sports Club, Margao. The tournament has received more than 200 registrations for participation.

In the tournamentโ€™s other matches in the 55+ menโ€™s singles category, Manoj P easily overcame a challenge from Aman Prabhu Gaonkar 6-1, while Jude Cardozo made light work of his opponent Ashok Kumar Borkar 6-0 to reach the semifinals. In other matches in the same category, Noel Noronha defeated Artemio 6-3 to reach the quarterfinals.

In the 45+ menโ€™s singles category, Manoj P and Sandeep Menon did not break a sweat in their respective matches against Brian Fernandes and Anup Sardesai 6-0, while Caetano Fernandes defeated Naveen Cardoza 6-1.

Baale BPS Open 2025 Off to a Smashing Start; Arnam Ghosh Blazes Through to the Menโ€™s Open Singles Quarterfinalsย 


Panaji, February 16: Kicking off the second edition of the Baale BPS Open 2025 with high octane on court performances, Arnam Ghosh qualified for the quarterfinals in the men’s open singles category, defeating his opponents in the second round and pre-quarterfinals with a score of 6-1. 

In the same category Prithvi Naik beat Kishor Metry 6-0, Anup Sardesai defeated Vihaan Prijeeth Krishnan 6-1, Saurish Naik vanquished Chetan Dattaram Rane 6-2, Rahul Pinto overpowered Saurabh Trivedi 6-3 and Joao Sousa one-upped Vinod Kumar 6-4 in the categoryโ€™s other first round matches. 

Round two of the menโ€™s open singles category saw Nishad Shevde, Dmitry Smirnov, Siddharth Nunes and Prince Agnelo Joven de Silva play a powerful game and win with a score of 6-0 against their respective opponents Amulya Sethi, Joshua Cardozo, Dr Suraj S Patlekar and Joao Sousa. Arnam Ghosh, who got a bye in the first round, and Pankaj Naik handed Anup Sardesai and Allan Fernandes defeats with a score of 6-1, respectively, while Lyndon JP trounced Arhan Gaunkar 6-2; Jai Gill beat Saurish Naik 6-3 and Prithvi Naik fought hard to overcome Wes Ryan Cardosoโ€™s challenge 6-4.

In round three, which served as the pre-quarterfinals, Arnam Ghosh trumped Lyndon JP 6-1; and Siddharth Nunes breezed through his match against Ojasvi Singh Mann 6-0.

The second edition of the Baale BPS Open 2025, supported by the Goa State Tennis Association and the Baale Resort Goa, recently commenced at the B.P.S Sports Club, Margao, with several matches underway.

Speaking at the inaugural, Vikram Verlekar, sports chairman of the B.P.S Sports Club said, โ€œThe addition of the Ladies Doubles and the Wheelchair Tennis Challenger Tournament has been a significant step in making the Baale BPS Open more inclusive and competitive. Itโ€™s been great to see the enthusiasm and talent in these new categories, and we look forward to even greater participation in the future. Wishing all the players the very best.โ€

The tournament will be on till February 23, with unique categories, including the Under-10 category and Wheelchair Tennis Challenger Tournament, opening new avenues for tennis in the state.
