RSB Cochin Crowned New Champions of All India Civil Services Football Tournament

RSB Cochin were crowned the new champions of the All India Civil Services Football Tournament organised by the Government of Goa in collaboration with the Central Civil Services Sports and Cultural Board, New Delhi, after a thrilling final at the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim. In an exciting contest, RSB Cochin defeated defending champions Central Secretariat Delhi 5โ€“4 in a tie-breaker after the match ended 0โ€“0 at the end of regulation time.

The final was a closely fought encounter, with both teams displaying disciplined defence and strong midfield play, resulting in a goalless draw at full time. The title was eventually decided through a tense penalty shootout, where RSB Cochin kept their nerves to convert five spot kicks through Kanan, Midhun Wilwet, Stephen Dias, Bojair and Asif. For Central Secretariat Delhi, Ajay Singh, Nitin Rawat, Ripudamani and Gurjinder Kumar successfully converted their penalties.

The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Dr Ajay Gaude, Director of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs (DSYA), as the chief guest, while Arjuna Awardee Bruno Coutinho was the guest of honour. Other dignitaries present included Shri Sumit M, High Performance Director of Khelo India Centre of Excellence Goa, Sarvottam Satardekar, Joint Director Accounts, Sports Authority of Goa, Dr Vivek Pawar, Deputy Director DSYA, Irwin Cordo, Assistant Director Coaching, and Nodal Officer Prakash Satarkar.

Individual honours were also awarded at the ceremony. The Best Goalkeeper award went to Skailine PD of RSB Cochin, while Abhishek Rawat of Central Secretariat Delhi was named Best Defender. Sanket Salonke of RSB Mumbai finished as the highest scorer of the tournament with 14 goals, and the Best Forward award was claimed by Sumit Passi of Central Secretariat Delhi. The Fair Play Award was presented to Goa Secretariat.

In the third-place playoff, RSB Mumbai defeated Goa Secretariat to secure the third position in the tournament. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ajay Gaude appreciated the efforts of all 37 participating teams, praising the high level of skill, discipline and team spirit displayed throughout the competition, which was played from December 8 at the Santa Cruz Ground and the Athletic Stadium, Bambolim. The event was compered by Shri Anant Sawal, State Sports Organiser, DSYA, and the vote of thanks was proposed by Shri Irwin Cordo, Assistant Director, DSYA.

Goa Boys Set to Compete at 36th Junior National Atya Patya Championship in Chandigarh


The Goa boysโ€™ contingent is geared up to participate in the 36th Boys and Girls Junior National Atya Patya Championship, scheduled to be held in Chandigarh from December 12 to 14, 2025. The prestigious national-level tournament will see young talents from across India compete, offering Goa an opportunity to showcase its growing strength in the traditional sport.

The stateโ€™s participation will be overseen by Goa Atya Patya State Secretary Krishna Kharade, along with Federation Member Prisca Pires and members Surendra Dessai and Sushrut Kharade, who will ensure smooth coordination and support for the team throughout the championship.

The Goa boysโ€™ team features a balanced mix of skill, discipline, and determination. The squad is led by Anish Velip (Captain) and includes Princekumar Thakur, Sanskar Naikdhure, Ayyan Tumbagi, Nitin Gautam, Vignesh Zoro, Shubham Lambor, Binna Halkumar Yadav, Raj Mali, Chandan Gaude, Deepak Thakur, Aniket Kharat, Manthan Mirashi, and Nekhil Gaur.

Guiding the team from the sidelines will be Coach Akash Sasnot, with Vijay Chauhan serving as the Team Manager.

With months of preparation behind them, the Goa contingent is confident and focused as they step onto the national stage. The championship promises intense competition, and the team is determined to put forth a strong performance, carrying the pride of Goa with them.

CKB Martial Art Academy Girls Achieve 100% Medal Success at Khelo India Kickboxing Championship

CKB Martial Art Academy recorded a moment of immense pride at the Khelo India Kickboxing Championship held in Mapusa, Peddem, as all 11 girls representing the academy achieved a 100% medal-winning result. Competing with determination and discipline, the young athletes brought home a mix of gold, silver, and bronze medals, reflecting months of dedicated training and perseverance.

The champions who delivered this outstanding performance include Ahd Mulla, Ainsley Dsouza, Afifa Mulla, Sejal Parsekar, Saanchi Chavan, Aarohy Kamble, Atifa Mulla, Zoya Dori, Pranjal Kamble, Raashi Kamble, and Inaya Mulla. Their success not only highlighted individual excellence but also showcased the collective strength and unity of the team.

The achievement stands as a strong statement for girl empowerment in sports, proving that with the right guidance and support, young women can excel at the highest competitive platforms. Goa Enter Knockouts After Resolute Stand Against Bengal

Goa entered the knockout stage of the Cooch Behar Trophy Elite cricket tournament after holding Bengal to a hard-fought draw on Thursday, extending their unbeaten run in Group โ€˜Dโ€™. With three wins and one draw from four matches, Goa now stand at an impressive 23 points, securing qualification with one league match still remaining. The match, played at the Bengal Cricket Academy Ground in Kalyani, showcased Goaโ€™s discipline, determination, and ability to stand strong against one of the tournamentโ€™s toughest sides.

Bengal declared their second innings at 255 for 9 in 43 overs, setting Goa a challenging target of 229 runs. With the pitch favouring the bowlers and time running out, Goa approached the chase with caution and composure. They finished at 126 for 6 in 74.5 overs, ensuring the match ended in a draw and earning a valuable three points. Bengal settled for one.

Resuming from their overnight score of 185 for 4, Bengal added 70 runs in 12 overs but lost five wickets in the process. Goaโ€™s bowlers delivered a disciplined performance, with Chigurupati Venkata leading the attack by taking 3 wickets for 58 runs. Shiven Borker supported well with figures of 2 for 52, while Mihir Kudalkar claimed a wicket. Bengal also suffered three run-outs, which helped Goa tighten their grip at crucial moments.

In Goaโ€™s second innings, skipper Yash Kasvankar anchored the batting with a fighting 43 off 98 balls, hitting six boundaries in an innings defined by patience and responsibility. Opener Sarthak Bhike contributed a determined 30 off 130 balls, blunting Bengalโ€™s attack and consuming valuable time. Shantanu Nevagi and Dishank Misquin played important supporting roles despite low scores, holding their wickets when the team needed stability the most. Aradhya Goyal remained unbeaten on 11 off 57 balls, while Mihir Kudalkar and Sai Naik ensured Goa did not crumble under pressure in the final session. For Bengal, Rohit Das and Rohit took two wickets each.

Earlier in the match, Bengal had posted 325 in 100.1 overs in their first innings. Goa responded strongly with 352 in 113.3 overs, gaining an important 27-run lead that played a crucial role in the final outcome. With momentum on their side and confidence running high, Goa now prepare for their final Group D match against Chandigarh on December 16.

The draw against Bengal reflects Goaโ€™s growing maturity, depth, and resilience as a team. Their qualification for the knockouts highlights their consistent performances throughout the tournament and sets the stage for an exciting next phase as they chase greater glory.
