FC Siolim Seals Final Spot with a Big Win

Written by Tanisha Cardozo

Sinquerim, July 3, 2025:  FC Siolim has earned their place in the finals of the 1st Vedanta Trophy with a powerful 4-0 win over Assonora United Football Club, in a semi-final match held at the Sinquerim ground on Thursday. The match was part of the tournament hosted by the Sinquerim Sports Club.

From the opening whistle, FC Siolim looked sharp and dangerous. Mayuresh Naik gave his side an early lead in the 9th minute, setting the tone for what would become a commanding performance. Despite several chances, Siolim held only a narrow 1-0 lead at halftime.

The second half, however, saw a complete takeover. In the 51st minute, Pushparaj Mandrekar added the second goal, breaking Assonora’s defensive resolve. Just four minutes later, Dalesh Pednekar made it 3-0, capitalizing on the mounting pressure. As the match neared its end, Naik struck again with his second goal of the match, securing the emphatic 4-0 result.

Assonora United struggled to match the tempo and failed to create any real threat going forward. Their defense collapsed under Siolim’s quick, well-structured attacks, and their attempts to push back were consistently shut down.

The match saw three yellow cards issued — one to Mayuresh Naik of FC Siolim, and two to Kunal Salgaonkar and Vishan Asnodkar of Assonora United — as tensions rose during key moments of the game.

With this win, FC Siolim advances to the final, where they will look to carry this winning momentum and capture the inaugural Vedanta Trophy.

Stay tuned for final match updates and coverage!
