GHSS Pernem Hosts ‘Script to Screen’ Film Workshop with Goa Academy & Govt. of Goa


Government Higher Secondary School, Pernem became a vibrant hub of creativity and storytelling as it hosted the ‘Script to Screen’ Film Making Workshop, organised by the Goa Academy in collaboration with the Department of Information and Publicity, Government of Goa. The initiative was designed to introduce students to the exciting world of filmmaking—from ideation to post-production.

The workshop was guided by experienced professionals, with Mr. Anil Lad serving as Film Making Co-ordinator, supported by Mrs. Divyani Prab as Assistant Co-ordinator and Mrs. Santosh Patil as Assistant. The program aimed to nurture creativity, foster teamwork, and equip students with technical and narrative skills required for visual storytelling.

Over the course of the workshop, students were mentored on script writing, shot planning, camera techniques, sound design, and basic editing. The event culminated in a film screening session where teams showcased their short films created entirely during the workshop.

The winning team—Saish Kudtarkar, Ishwari Gotankar, Manas Tulshikar, and Yogesh Jadhav—was lauded for their storytelling, visual creativity, and teamwork. Their short film stood out for its originality and technical execution, earning them special recognition.

Principal Rajeshri Redkar and Vice Principal Kirtimala Parab extended their support to the initiative, highlighting the importance of integrating arts and technology into mainstream education to equip students for future careers in media, communication, and the creative industries.

This engaging and educational workshop is part of a broader push to encourage creative expression among youth and build awareness of media literacy and film as a powerful communication tool.

Young Archers from Sunshine Worldwide School Shine at Independence Day Competition


On August 15, 2025, Sunshine Worldwide School, Old Goa, proudly participated in an archery competition held to celebrate India’s Independence Day. The event was hosted by Zito Archery Club and took place at Fr. Agnel Central School, Pilar, attracting young archery talent from schools across the region.

Guided by their dedicated coach, Leonor Godinho, the school’s archery team demonstrated strong sportsmanship, discipline, and skill. Among the shining stars of the competition was Ms. Abigail Vanderpett, whose composed focus, technique, and precision caught the attention of both judges and spectators alike. Her performance stood out not just for the scores, but for the grace and control she displayed throughout the competition.

Events like these not only allow students to test their sporting ability but also foster confidence, teamwork, and valuable life experiences. The spirit of friendly competition and encouragement among schools made the day a memorable one.

St. Thomas HSS Aldona Hosts All Goa News Presentation Contest, Budding Anchors Shine Bright


St. Thomas Higher Secondary School, Aldona, in association with its Parent Teachers’ Association, organized the All Goa Inter-Higher Secondary School News Presentation Competition on 13th September 2025. Held in the school’s auditorium, the contest was themed “Voices of Hope: News that Inspires, Uplifts, and Ignites Optimism.”

Fifteen higher secondary schools from across Goa participated in the unique and uplifting event, presenting news stories through PowerPoint-supported segments designed to inspire, inform, and engage. The competition was a showcase of creativity, confidence, and storytelling prowess, as student anchors brought a wave of positive journalism to the stage.

The event’s Chief Guest, Shri Promod Acharya, Editorial Director of Prudent Media Network, commended the participants’ outstanding efforts. He noted that several presentations surpassed the quality of professional news anchoring and emphasized the power young voices have to shape public sentiment by choosing to tell stories that bring hope. “Readers decide what becomes news,” he reminded the participants, urging them to spread optimism in their storytelling.

Joining the jury were media professionals Ms. Alisha Caraline Fernandes, Producer at Rashtra TV, and Ms. Nitiksha Mahadev Gaonkar, Reporter at Goa 365 News Channel, who brought their expertise in evaluating both content and presentation.

The winners of the event were:

1st Place – Ms. Juyee Manesh Gawas from Vasantrao Dempo HSS, Cujira

2nd Place – Ms. Carol Fernandes from St. Thomas HSS, Aldona

3rd Place – Mast. Yash Jagdish Durbhatkar from St. Andrew’s HSS, Vasco

1st Consolation – Ms. Chetana Naik from Dr. K.B. Hedgewar HSS, Cujira

2nd Consolation – Ms. Meagan Grace Dias from G.V.M.’s SNJA HSS, Ponda

All participants were presented with certificates of appreciation, while the winners received trophies, certificates, and cash prizes in recognition of their hard work and excellence.

The contest was efficiently coordinated by Sir Daryl John Abranches and Tr. Lavina Pereira, with wholehearted support from the teaching and non-teaching staff and an enthusiastic team of student volunteers. Principal Angelica Fernandes expressed heartfelt thanks to all participants, judges, guests, and supporting schools, affirming that the event had successfully highlighted the emerging voices of young journalists in Goa.

Workshop on AI Tools in Education Held at Goa Multi-Faculty College


SPES’s Shri Gopal Gaonkar Memorial Goa Multi-Faculty College, in association with TLSC Dharbandora and the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), organized a thought-provoking and hands-on workshop on AI Tools in Education. The event was designed to engage and educate high school and higher secondary students and teachers on the emerging role of artificial intelligence in academic settings.

The workshop was inaugurated by Hon’ble MLA Dr. Ganesh Gaonkar, Chairman of GTDC, who shared his vision of future-ready education in Goa. In his address, Dr. Gaonkar emphasized the urgent need to integrate modern technology, especially AI tools, into daily teaching and learning practices.
